jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Oct 13, 2009 Deep dark brown coloured body with a very thin slightly tan colour - not much movement on this one. Aroma of roasted malt, light coffee, caramel and a decent amount of metal. Medium-bodied; Very assertive metallic flavours tucked in with roasted nuts and malt and a bit of caramel. Aftertaste shows some mellow spices and some light caramel sweetness, but nothing too pleasant. Overall, too roasty and bitter with not enough of the pleasant tastes coming through. Definitely not one of my favourite beers from this style, which isn’t my favourite style. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Liquor Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 03-October-2009 sampled at home in Washington on 13-October-2009. shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Sep 16, 2009 bottle and tap at the brewery. Dark dark red pour with minimal head. Aroma is smokey and peaty. Nice. Flavor is lots of smoke with a sweet dark maltiness. Enjoyable. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Aug 6, 2009 Pours a dark ruby copper with a thin tan head. The nose is sweet, malty, light peat, some corn. The flavor is sweet, some cardboard, caramel malt, peaty, leathery, earthy leafy hop feel. Palate is soft with low carbonation. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Jul 29, 2009 9/19/2008: Atlantic MacFooshies Scottish Ale pours a deep chesnut brown color and has an aroma of highly caramelized malt with hints of roasted malt and coffee. The flavor is smoky and malty. The roastiness and smoke is at a good level. There are chocolate undertones in the flavor as well. This beer has a moderately full body and is smooth. Overall it is a solid Scottish Ale.

alobar (1006), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 9, 2009 Solid brown color with minimal head. Aroma of toasted malts and peat. Nicely blended flavor-toasted malts, peat, caramel, heather. Good beer, but a bit more of an edge could make it a very good beer. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA May 1, 2009 Some malt in the aroma. Lots of malt and even more peat in the flavor of this. Smoke and thickness throughout. One of the best scotch ales I’ve had. Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Apr 22, 2009 Pale amber with fair head thanks to a vivacious carbonation. In the nose, the unfocused flavours belong in a earthy, caramelly range. Dull malts and hard, salty water are a poor match and when the body feels watery on top of it, it’s even worse. Very dull on the palate and to top it all, covers an unpleasant grainy acidity. Poor for its strength.
