Pale amber with fair head thanks to a vivacious carbonation. In the nose, the unfocused flavours belong in a earthy, caramelly range. Dull malts and hard, salty water are a poor match and when the body feels watery on top of it, it’s even worse. Very dull on the palate and to top it all, covers an unpleasant grainy acidity. Poor for its strength.

22 oz. bottle courtesy of hopdog. Pours clear brown with reddish highlights and a small beige head. The aroma is sweet caramel malts, fruits, and mild spices. The flavor is mildly sweet caramel malt, light fruits, light dry earthy peated malt, and a touch of spices. This is not as chewy as I would like in the best Scotch Ales but is decent nonetheless.

From bottle. Rich malt aroma with caramel. Deep amber colour with a big brownish head. Rich caramel flavour with a strong malt background. Slightly spiced. Syrup texture, yet a bitter finish.

Bottle, courtesy sebletitje. Dark ruby brown pour, frothy white head and slick lacing. Big dark brown sugar nose, other candied fruits, some smokiness and a slight oily rust. Sweet caramel maltiness, nice roast and peat, some chocolate, honey and oaksy notes. Sweet, smooth creamy body, slightly bitter finish.

Bottle thanks to Seabass: Poured a dark brown with a tan color thin head. Aroma is sweet with sugar, fruits, molasses, and light heather. Taste is sugary caramel with just enough dark fruits to balance the flavor.

Pours dark brown with beige head. Aroma of dark fruits and caramel malts with a nice subtle nose of heather. Taste, brown sugar, malty, molasses, dark fruits (cherry/prune) with a very light touch of the heather giving the beer an interesting perrenial plant freshness instead of hops.

22ox bottle via trade. Pours the darkest brown with a small beige ring. Sweet nose with dark fruits, toffee and caramel. Flavor was also quite sweet with toasted malts, dark fruits, and maple syrup.

Bomber thanks to mcox90. Pours out a brilliant red-purple color with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is fruity, caramel and smoke also. The flavor is very smooth and tasty; lots of caramel malts, some rich almost herbal heather flavors, some smokiness throughout. A style I really love and wish I had more of. Easy to drink and yet tasty. Very nice.
