Atlantic Mount Desert Island Ginger

Perhaps if the base beer had more character I would appreciate the brew more. As it is, pretty much all I’m getting from the nose and taste is a whole lot of ginger and little else. Other than that, the hazy light amber body and short lived head make it appear much like most other American wheat ales. Thank goodness for beer stores with single bottle purchases available.

This beer is an amber/orange color with a thin white head that does not last long. Aroma of sweet ginger and wheat. Light-bodied and spicy with a good amount of ginger flavor. Some malt and wheat in the background as well. More spiciness in the finish, again with ginger dominating. There is a touch of hops in the aftertaste too. The beer seems one-dimensional, although there is just enough going on behind the scenes to keep it from being below average.

Pours a hazy copper, sediment present in the glas, coating the bottom and floating around. Thin tan head with some light lacing. Smells of grassy malt, ginger and some yeasty fruitiness. Taste is also that grassy malt backed with a solid ginger bite. I feared the ginger may overwheln the beer and the palate but happily that is not the case. Quite well balanced with the spice assisting not dominating the overall flavor. Crisp and light to medium bodies. An easy drinker as well. A pleasant surprise, would be nice on a cool spring evening.

The pour is a dark golden with a white head and an aroma of light sweetness and giner. The flavor is mildly sweet with noticible ginger and a light finish.

Draft @ brewery. Pours a semi-dark honey gold with very small off-white head. Good pungent ginger aroma. Mouthfeel light, kind of fizzy. Tastes of ginger and wheat malt. Just about the right amount of ginger to make this pretty tasty and refreshing.

Fairly light amber color - hazy and cloudy. Aroma of tart citrus, grassy hops and a hint of spice. Flavor is of a typical dry wheat beer, with a hint of spice/ginger. Kind of a muddy flavor though - doesn’t really shine.

Cloudy golden pour, ginger and light citrus nose. Wheat and ginger taste as advertised.

Bottle poured a hazy golden amber with a small lasting white head. Aromas of ginger, light wheat and a hint of citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of wheat, ginger and light citrus with a crisp refreshing finish. Now this is a good summer beer!
