Commercial Description:
A refreshing wheat beer spiced with fresh ginger root. The process of making this wheat beer has been nicknamed "special ginger tea", due to the fact that we add over 20 lbs. of fresh ground ginger root into the boil. We use pale malt, and wheat, as well as Target and Whitbread Goldings Variation hops to flavor this light, summer ale. Island Ginger is particularly popular during the warmer summer months, though thanks to the ginger kick it has, it would also be warming in the cold winter months.

Not great, a little interesting, and not horrible. Lots of ginger in the aroma, flavor and aftertaste. Basicaly a mediocre ale with all the ginger one could want thrown in. Living in China, I’ve had about all of the ginger I need. Good for a taste, but I wouldn’t go in for a sixer.

This beer is unique, I’ll give it that. The ginger is so overpowering that it reminds me of Japanese food. Avoid. I don’t know how anyone could regularly consume this.

Aroma is OK. Comes across as a regular wheat beer until about half done, that’s when I noticed the ginger more in the flavor. Felt good and finished nicely.

2005 bottle consumed on 7/1/2005 with SuIIy. Deep pencil yellow/candied pineapple colored body. Thick and cloudy looking, completely opaque and unfiltered. Fizzy white head recedes quickly to ring, but tons of lacing is left on the glass. Aroma is full on ginger. Not a lot gets around the ginger, though the ginger smells fresh and juicy. Flavor of ginger and vanilla, up front, with a bit of wheat sour/dryness. Light banana chips notes. Low carbonation, lazy bubbles burst forth on to the surface and pleasure the tongue quite nicely. Some candied pineapple flavor on the end, sort of a mix of the ginger and sweet malt. Touches of sourness on the finish, as well. The mouthfeel is quite interesting, with a chewy or perhaps, gummy sort of texture. Well-malted, with ginger and vanilla beans lingering on.

Aroma was ginger. It’s a unique flavored beer, but like the Atlantic Blueberry it’s just a bit too flavored with a bit too much ginger. It’s an interesting brew, but I personally wouldn’t drink more than one.

Opaque orangey yellow color. foamy white head. Very creamy mouthfeel, very light and summery. Lots of ginger, orange, and some spice in the aroma. Got some vanilla and ginger, rye, nutmeg, and carmel in the flavor. i think this is very gooood, and a very good summer beer.

A golden orange color that is very viscous, no light shall get through this beer. Lots of ginger rye and corainder in the aroma. I get a little gingerbread man in the body, but alot more caramel malts. Its pretty damn refreshing i must say.Very light on its feet and wet.
