Commercial Description:
A refreshing wheat beer spiced with fresh ginger root. The process of making this wheat beer has been nicknamed "special ginger tea", due to the fact that we add over 20 lbs. of fresh ground ginger root into the boil. We use pale malt, and wheat, as well as Target and Whitbread Goldings Variation hops to flavor this light, summer ale. Island Ginger is particularly popular during the warmer summer months, though thanks to the ginger kick it has, it would also be warming in the cold winter months.

Pours hazy gold/orange with thin head. Aroma is grainy malt, some wheat and yeast, very light Ginger. Flavour is sourish wheat, some Ginger spice tones through the middle and a light banana wheat finish with lingering trace of Ginger.

(Bottle) Interesting, but doesn’t cut it. Ginger is present but not overpowering. I was actually hoping it would be overpowering like in Jamaican ginger beers, and I’m a bit disappointed. The beer quality to this one is a bit disappointing. There’s not much complexity to it. There’s an unpleasant sourness that lingers, however, and does not mesh well with the ginger. It leaves a flat, bitter aftertaste that is less-than-pleasant. Overall, while I love the idea of ginger in a beer, I think this beer is poorly executed.

Bottle (12oz). Hazy amber, some large dark chunkies, average quick-diminishing fizzy white head. Smells like ginger and sweet peach, slightly floral. Tastes the same - ginger and peach, floral/perfume bitterness, not horrible, I’m surprised - the ginger’s nicely restrained, although it develops a little dry kraft paper taste as it warms. Light bodied, stingingly carbonated, leaves a slightly metallic gingery aftertaste. Better than many ginger beers I’ve had.

Hazy gelatinous orange with a thin white head that’s gone pretty quick and has a lively look to it. Aroma of ginger, malt, mild corn, dough and mild cola. Taste of ginger, malt and mild corn. Finishes spicy and dry.

I thought this was surprisingly decent. Reasonably spicy and slightly different. Similar to a witbier, but not nearly as creamy or smooth. Lightly dry. Unfiltered, but not much sediment at all. Very drinkable. Strange aroma.

Dark Golden color with a nice white head that lingers and is slightly cloudy. It like the ginger smell. Spice ginger taste is prevalent but creates an earthy mouth feel that is slight unpleasant.

Tasted like a typical wheat beer with some extra spiciness to me. The ginger flavor really wasn’t at all pronounced. A bit spicy, bitter, and dry.

Pours a semi translucent orange colour witha small, quick to disipate white head. Aroma is old ginger, oranges, coriander and cinnamon. Soft ginger, nutmeg, orange peel and bananna on the palate.
