Commercial Description:
A refreshing wheat beer spiced with fresh ginger root. The process of making this wheat beer has been nicknamed "special ginger tea", due to the fact that we add over 20 lbs. of fresh ground ginger root into the boil. We use pale malt, and wheat, as well as Target and Whitbread Goldings Variation hops to flavor this light, summer ale. Island Ginger is particularly popular during the warmer summer months, though thanks to the ginger kick it has, it would also be warming in the cold winter months.

This was actually pretty good stuff, but you have to really like ginger, because this tastes like the real thing, which was pleasing on the palate. Grainy cereal maltiness, wheaty and citrusy, with great flavors of ginger throughout. Nicely done.

Hazydeep brassy gold, thick dense white finger-thick cap. Aroma of grainy cereal and fresh ginger. Flavour is wheaty with natural ginger flavour in good balance, and a nice lemon oil accent. I was pleasantly surprised with this one.

12oz bottle. Aroma of spicey ginger and sweet. Dark golden body with thin head that went flat quickly. Chalky sweet spice flavor with some malty sweetener in the mix. Spicey cough syrup aftertaste left on palate. Need a glass of water.

(Rating #1783)

12oz bottle served in a lager glass. Pour looks like pond water, golden-brown with some foamy scum floating on top. I’m not so sure that what I taste is ginger, it reminds me of meat. I don’t know what else to say about this stuff except "stay away".

Hazy dark gold with a bright, light khaki head. The aroma is rich peaches and ginger. There is also a yeasty note. The taste has some nasty notes of old ginger that has sat on the counter. There is also a little bit of nasty cheap sponge cake, like the outside of a Twinkie, but without the filling. Pretty nasty.

Hmmm this is different stuff, you can really taste the ginger. I’m not sure if I want that flavor in my beer, definitely unique.

It pours an opaque orange-amber with a fairly thick off-whitehead. Aroma is rich and malty with a strong undertone of orange. Flavor is crisp and malty, somewhat citrus fruity, with just a whisper of hops. It goes down smoothly and is very refreshing and delightful.
