Pours a semi-clear golden pale brew with a decent white head that quickly dissipates to a white ring. Aroma of light bread malt, ginger, Ivory soap, and a touch of white pepper. Taste is medium bodied, white bread, soap, abundant ginger and lemon zest. Finish continues the soap aftertaste with a hint of white pepper. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA

Ginger aroma overwhelms everything else. There is some light fruitiness detectable, but the ginger is really front and center. Medium body and a fairly lively carbonation, and a tangy mouthfeel. Seems a little sweet, with just a touch of acidity/sourness with the ginger coming through again in a spicy finish. I’m not totally sure what I think of this. I love ginger ale, but this is no typical "ginger beer." I think it would be best with a meal, as opposed to just drinking it alone, and would fit well in the same context as some of the holiday spiced brews. wickedpete (626), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 9, 2007 Bottle. Nice dark iced tea body with a foamy loose thin head. Nose-light plastic smoke, dusty, malty. Taste-malts swept off a brewery floor, yeasty cherry fruity esters English cask butter flavors, light bitter on the back end. Reminds me of some heavily malted American interpretation of cask conditioned English Ales. A lot more malt and yeast characteristics than I would have thought. Interesting. Little to no influence from the ginger. Enjoyable in a dark, dirty, gloomy pub kinda way. fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 22, 2007 POurs a medium amber. The notes of citrus show up in the aroma. The palate gives you some hop notes but this is where the ginger comes out and gives a nice light bite. TURDFERGUSON (1601), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA

Nose is very cloves, banana, wheat, brown sugar...this smells very, very similar to the aventinus, though the aventinus is more carbonated and maybe the yeast is slightly different. I dont really know. This smells much better than when I smelled it about two months ago when it first came out. Maybe it just about a different environment, or maybe the 2 months have mellowed it out a little, but we havent tasted anything yet. Flavor doesnt seem to meld well together and alcohol stands out a little too much. Slightly bitter, wheaty and alcoholic finish. WeeHeavySD (2963), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

Not much in the nose. Taste is sweet with a little bite, ehhh. I love the name as I love the Island but damn this needs so much more.
