Honey Sun Iqhilika (Mead) - Chili without the chili, of course. There is also some earth and lemon tang. Flavor has some earthy bitterness (2-3 out of 10), ginger, and a crisp wheaty finish, semidry. Moderate carbonation, medium body. Not too bad of a ginger, though not as good as Hitachino Nest’s. nearbeer (1862), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 14, 2007 Bottle, no notches on date stamp. Slightly cloudy topaz with a humongous head that lasts. Nose is strong ginger; occasional whiffs of crackers, citrus, malt and grassy-herby hops hidden underneath. Taste is strong ginger, some dry bread, slight lemon, and bitter herb hops on the finish. Non-ginger flavors become more apparent at the end of the glass, after my tongue is sort of desensitized to the ginger. Palate is light-medium bodied, fairly smooth, slightly astringent and sticky at the end. I like the fact they make this beer, but you really gotta be craving ginger for this one to be your style. Better than the typical American Wheat though, and actually one of the more memorable beers from this brewery. LinusStick (1848), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 31, 2007 This is a decent beer considering the style. I love wheat beer and ginger so this was a good mix. Aroma was decent..a little ginger but not much with some wheat in there. Pour was a nice dark gold with a one finger white head. Taste was gingery and spicey...wheat is an aftertaste and very weak. This is a novelty beer that is good when you’re in the mood but nothing to be taken seriously. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 29, 2003 very crisp wheat aroma and strong ginger pungency -very spicy nose. Flavor is crisp and gingery with a bit of sugar - good - make sure to swirl and pour the sediment for a slightly softer, fuller palate and flavor profile. thornecb (1804), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 20, 2008 Pours gold into a shaker. White head quickly recedes to hug rim. Sweet malt and mild ginger aromas. Sweet full malt upfront with a cloying ginger finish. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 9, 2007 Bottle. Nice dark iced tea body with a foamy loose thin head. Nose-light plastic smoke, dusty, malty. Taste-malts swept off a brewery floor, yeasty cherry fruity esters English cask butter flavors, light bitter on the back end. Reminds me of some heavily malted American interpretation of cask conditioned English Ales. A lot more malt and yeast characteristics than I would have thought. Interesting. Little to no influence from the ginger. Enjoyable in a dark, dirty, gloomy pub kinda way. Palidor19 (1791), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 16, 2005 When you pour it the first thing you notice the sediment which catches your eye. at first sip, it gives a punch to the taste-buds and stay with you.
Gives off impression of orange and ginger, and honey.

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 21, 2005 Ginger in the nose will always remind me of a mead I once had. I like ginger in mead. Not so much in beer. Something about drinking ginger is just *wrong*
