Commercial Description:
A refreshing wheat beer spiced with fresh ginger root. The process of making this wheat beer has been nicknamed "special ginger tea", due to the fact that we add over 20 lbs. of fresh ground ginger root into the boil. We use pale malt, and wheat, as well as Target and Whitbread Goldings Variation hops to flavor this light, summer ale. Island Ginger is particularly popular during the warmer summer months, though thanks to the ginger kick it has, it would also be warming in the cold winter months.

Cloudy orange. Crisp, clean and nicely hopped. Lots of tart wheat and spicy ginger, but not overly done. Very refreshing, even in ice cold weather. A sure fire palate cleanser.

Pours a hazy orange into the glass without much of a retentive head... the teeniest of lace may be noted as the brew moves down the glass. The nose is of nondescript light spices (ok, ginger since you told me, but not discernible in a blind whiff test). The flavors follow in tow, an American Wheat base with lots of herbs and vegetal notes. The ginger root begins to present itself mid-palate, lingering through the finish, building momentum as the brew warms. The mouthfeel is light with decent carbonation levels. Although it’s drinkable, it’s not nearly complex enough to be effective.

I assume that the ABC’s beers are made by Shipyard. Essentially, this is an American Wheat fermented with Ringwood and flavored with ginger. That’s a combination that under most circumstances that would make me sick, but this beer is at least adequately refreshing and I can see where it may even be good with a spicy curry.

Pours hazy gold/orange with thin head. Aroma is grainy malt, some wheat and yeast, very light Ginger. Flavour is sourish wheat, some Ginger spice tones through the middle and a light banana wheat finish with lingering trace of Ginger.

How weird that this would be my very next rating after Orange Blossom Cream Ale. Nose of ginger & sawdust. Interestingly enough, smells like ginger ale! Pours a sparkling clover honey. The frothy off-white head is mostly diminishing with no lace. The brew is very crisp & interesting with moderate acidity, and a spicy finish. The light body is creamy & lively. The finish feels crisp.

12oz bottle served in a lager glass. Pour looks like pond water, golden-brown with some foamy scum floating on top. I’m not so sure that what I taste is ginger, it reminds me of meat. I don’t know what else to say about this stuff except "stay away".

It pours an opaque orange-amber with a fairly thick off-whitehead. Aroma is rich and malty with a strong undertone of orange. Flavor is crisp and malty, somewhat citrus fruity, with just a whisper of hops. It goes down smoothly and is very refreshing and delightful.
