| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 16, 2003 Orange colour with hints of a golden hue. Head developed on the pour but very quickly dissolved. Definate orange and ginger smell comes from the beer. The taste is very gingery but not overwhelmingly so. The aftertaste leaves a little to desire, but all-in-all, a good beer that is pretty different than any other beer i've had. Definately one to try if you like ginger or if you are looking for a 'different' summer beer. I bought this in a bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 27, 2005 12oz bottle - Pours light amber witha short white head that fades fairly quick. Aroma is ginger of course, some other spices, yeast, and maybe a bit of light grains. Flavor is very similar. Quite a bit of spiciness over light grains and malts. Some definite bread flavor as well. Palate is relatively light but not over carbonated. This is drinkable but definitely nothing better than average. Volgon (2490), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 9, 2004 Updated: Nov 27, 2004Cloudy yellow orange color with a thick slowly decending head. Dull spicy nose. Nice mouthfeel. Too bad it doesn’t taste good. The brewer has best before coding on the bottle, but never used it, so I can’t say if this is old or not. I wish that every brewer would have a born on, best before and complete USDA nutritional information along with ABV and IBUs. KAggie97 (2482), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA

Whiffs of honey-soaked ginger permeate the air surrounding the brew. Flavor is flat ginger and stale malt with old peach and far-gone berry. Average mouthfeel. Thank goodness I only bought one. When will Mankind learn to leave ginger out of beer??? unclemattie (2442), Georgia, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 28, 2004 Hazy gold body is topped by a respectable amount of white foam. The aroma is really more malt than ginger. It’s got a nice dry hay malt flavor and aroma that makes this an exceedingly drinkable beer. The ginger is very mild. In fact, I wouldn’t even know it was made with ginger, although I think the root spice creates a bit of vague spiciness that combines with the estery yeast flavors makes this almost seem like a mild Belgian ale. I’m getting a little cinnamon and vanilla as well. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 15, 2004 Wonderful aroma - ginger (no kidding). Deep golden honey - excellent color; short head and lacing. Taste was sweet with some caramel and a ginger bite. No real hop presence - and in this case I think that’s a good thing. Finish is dry and short. Refreshing. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 7, 2007 My parents visited the Atlantic Brewing Company in Bar Harbor, Maine while on vacation last year (2006) and brought me back a 12 oz bottle of this beer and three others (Atlantic Bar Harbor Real Ale, Atlantic Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale, and Atlantic Coal Porter) ... Thanks mom and dad! --
Atlantic Mount Desert Island Ginger is a clear, golden yellow color with a small white head that quickly dissipates to leave a thin veil. Pale malt and ginger are evident in the aroma as well as a weak honey sweetness. The flavor is akin to a lager or wheat beer with some ginger in it. The ginger is actually quite well done in this beer as it doesn’t overpower at all and is used to complement the base maltiness of the beer. A lemon zest and spicy hop bitterness in the finish really helps to balance out this beer. There is also a slight alcohol burn in the finish. This beer is light bodied, but not overly carbonated which helps even it out on the palate. This is probably one of the the better beers with ginger in it that I’ve had!
