Commercial Description:
A refreshing wheat beer spiced with fresh ginger root. The process of making this wheat beer has been nicknamed "special ginger tea", due to the fact that we add over 20 lbs. of fresh ground ginger root into the boil. We use pale malt, and wheat, as well as Target and Whitbread Goldings Variation hops to flavor this light, summer ale. Island Ginger is particularly popular during the warmer summer months, though thanks to the ginger kick it has, it would also be warming in the cold winter months.

The aroma was somewhat a cross between ginger and sulfides (like in dandruff shampoos). Hazy wheatish gold with flocculent yeast and suspended particulates. Mild ginger flavor makes for a very mellow beer -- while I didn’t like it as well as some other ginger beers, it has some subtlety without being overly complex. A bit of nutty sweetness. Hopping is muted. Medium to medium light body is pithy enough. Finish is fairly quick, except for the residual spice and sulfides. This would be a good one to try with oriental food.

Amber color with a a smaller white popcorn colored head. Fairly tame in aroma, with ginger being the most dominate. Some hints of wheat and cookie dough at well. Fuller flavors, with caramel and malt in the front and carrying through to the finish. Ginger and generic spice come in mid swizzle. A sharp spice, even alcohol seems to come in right at the start of the finish and dries the linger out. Left with a dry ginger residue.

Any first impressions?
-There is decent foam retention to cover the transparent tan golden.
-Humble cereal sweetness topples ginger in the nose.
-Gingery fruitiness collaborates with the caramel/cereal sweetness.
-The well-constructed body remains quaffable due to the lively carbonation.

What if you dig deeper?
-A furtive citrusy hop bite dries off the ending.
-Wheat plays an important role here, and keeps the beer far from the gimmick zone.
-A decent meal accompaniment, or estival quencher, this ginger beer won’t wow most but will surely please those looking for novelty.

Bottle; no date notched.

Hazy orange body, thin off-white/buff head. Aroma of ginger, spicy, earthy, and bready. Ginger definitely defines the palate but it is not overpowering. Unfortunately, the rather light, earthy, bready body does not do much to offset or even enhance the ginger spicing. That said, this beer is certainly tolerable, but distinctively average.

gold color. floculent in colloidal suspension. peaked creamy white head. smells like peaches - and ginger. ... and mary ann. big ginger flavor. a wheat ale. ginger is the middle flavor, with jasmin leading off and wheat taste closing. complex herbal tea aroma. ginger numbs the mouth slightly. slight lemon taste throughout. the ginger is strong and pleasant - perfect to drink with sushi?

I have had this beer a couple of times. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange color with a medium sized orange-white head. The aroma is hot and spicy with a tangy citrus undertone. The flavor is strong hot candied ginger. The ginger overwhelms any actual "beer" like flavor. The finish is hot and spicy. Not terrible but quite one sided.

On tap at the brewery. Cloudy golden color with a thin white head. Aroma and flavor of wheat and ginger. Light body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Interesting and original but I’m not a big fan of ginger beers.
