The main aroma is detergent and wheat accented fruits. The body is a murky golden color and holds a limp pinky sized white head. The fore is, again, mildly ginger accented though the flavor grows in intensity It’s a bit wheaty/grainy and rustic, but in the way a Weyerbacher I just had is.....simple rustic rather than complex and rustically made.

On the whole it is still a fairly drinkable beer and probably one of my favorite from this brewer. ehhdayton (1113), USA

The flavor is mildly sweet with noticible ginger and a light finish. HogTownHarry (4025), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 18, 2009 Bottle (12oz). Hazy amber, some large dark chunkies, average quick-diminishing fizzy white head. Smells like ginger and sweet peach, slightly floral. Tastes the same - ginger and peach, floral/perfume bitterness, not horrible, I’m surprised - the ginger’s nicely restrained, although it develops a little dry kraft paper taste as it warms. Light bodied, stingingly carbonated, leaves a slightly metallic gingery aftertaste. Better than many ginger beers I’ve had. TURDFERGUSON (1606), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA

Nose is very cloves, banana, wheat, brown sugar...this smells very, very similar to the aventinus, though the aventinus is more carbonated and maybe the yeast is slightly different. I dont really know. This smells much better than when I smelled it about two months ago when it first came out. Maybe it just about a different environment, or maybe the 2 months have mellowed it out a little, but we havent tasted anything yet. Flavor doesnt seem to meld well together and alcohol stands out a little too much. Slightly bitter, wheaty and alcoholic finish. SudsMcDuff (1703), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 17, 2008 didn’t really know what to expect from this beer (the ole 1/6 sixer) ... Pours a sunrise dark orange, with quite a low head- sticks around barely ... interesting appealing smell, ginger, honey, spice, etc... also has an interesting flavour, ginger and other befuddling tastes... an ok spiced beer that might be better on tap..
Overall: this seems to be a single bottle purchase more than a sixer buy, but maybe worth a shot...

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 16, 2008 Pours a slightly cloudy amber with a one finger frothy white head. Ginger in the aroma, sweet ginger, spicy, not much else. The flavor is the same. A neutral base beer with some ginger, not bad but not something you want more than one of. swanmann (309), Norman, Oklahoma, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Aug 26, 2007 The bottle poured cloudy copper color w/ dissipating thin head. Aroma of yeast and sweet maltiness with citrus notes or oranges or lemons. I don’t really get ginger except for a slight burn from the initial sip. Very crisp with mellow lingering ginger sensation in the chest. Almot anisthetic. A little more syrupy as it warms. Sweetness really comes out but lacks complexity. A bit thin and aggressively carbonated. Derek881 (502), Frederick, Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 31, 2007 Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, a cloudy dark gold-honey color with a very small, bubbly white head that was gone quickly. The aroma was of strong wheat, with some yeast, and a noticeable ginger background. There also seemed to be some nutmeg or cinnamon, and caramel malt. The taste was sweet and fruity, even a bit spicey, with a bitter finish. It was wet and lightly fizzy with a drier alcohol finish and a spicey end. A decent beer that managed to hold all of its spice and flavoring fairly well.
