Commercial Description:
A refreshing wheat beer spiced with fresh ginger root. The process of making this wheat beer has been nicknamed "special ginger tea", due to the fact that we add over 20 lbs. of fresh ground ginger root into the boil. We use pale malt, and wheat, as well as Target and Whitbread Goldings Variation hops to flavor this light, summer ale. Island Ginger is particularly popular during the warmer summer months, though thanks to the ginger kick it has, it would also be warming in the cold winter months.

Bottle in Bar Harbor brewery. I do not like ginger but honestly could not taste much ginger in this beer. Not sure if that is good or not. Overall a very easy drinking beer no matter what food you eat it with.

12 oz. bottle courtesy/shared with Naka. Pours golden amber with fizzy white head that dissipates quickly. Nose is big on ginger with a sweet touch of caramel. Tastes of sweet toffee and bread wit ha good dose of ginger. Crisp hop finish with lingering hop and toffee after. Decent and drinkable.

Pours a semi translucent orange colour witha small, quick to disipate white head. Aroma is old ginger, oranges, coriander and cinnamon. Soft ginger, nutmeg, orange peel and bananna on the palate.

Well, its interesting but it doesn’t quite work. Very dry; interesting ginger/hoppy nose and lots of spice flavor throughout; very dry. Real problem is a metallic character that gets stronger as time passes. Unlikely to try it again, but glad I had it once.

Another one from Skyview. Hazy gold color with a medium head. Strong ginger aroma with ample dish soap. Both still linger in the taste, but at a much lower intensity. A little lemon. The soapiness is a distraction, but otherwise good.

Pours light orange with little to no head. Nose is mild ginger and wheat. Flavor is spicy and a bit citrusy. Kind of boring.

12oz bottle - Pours light amber witha short white head that fades fairly quick. Aroma is ginger of course, some other spices, yeast, and maybe a bit of light grains. Flavor is very similar. Quite a bit of spiciness over light grains and malts. Some definite bread flavor as well. Palate is relatively light but not over carbonated. This is drinkable but definitely nothing better than average.
