Commercial Description:
A refreshing wheat beer spiced with fresh ginger root. The process of making this wheat beer has been nicknamed "special ginger tea", due to the fact that we add over 20 lbs. of fresh ground ginger root into the boil. We use pale malt, and wheat, as well as Target and Whitbread Goldings Variation hops to flavor this light, summer ale. Island Ginger is particularly popular during the warmer summer months, though thanks to the ginger kick it has, it would also be warming in the cold winter months.

12ozer from the brewery. Pours orange/amber with a 2 finger chunky white head. Not much in the nose. Taste is sweet with a little bite, ehhh. I love the name as I love the Island but damn this needs so much more.

bottle. a light wheat beer with a subtle spicy finish. the ginger isn’t super pronounced - nothing near a NA ginger beer - but it is there if you’re looking for it. light body, dry finish. it has potential but doesn’t quite make it there.

Cloudy yellow orange color with a thick slowly decending head. Dull spicy nose. Nice mouthfeel. Too bad it doesn’t taste good. The brewer has best before coding on the bottle, but never used it, so I can’t say if this is old or not. I wish that every brewer would have a born on, best before and complete USDA nutritional information along with ABV and IBUs.

Pours cloudy yellow with almost no head. Light ginger and sulfide aroma. Taste is pretty heavy on the ginger. Not really overpowering but heavy. Slight sweetness in the finish, like honey. I could see me drinking this in the heat of the summer.

A faint ginger and honey aroma. Appearance is a murky yellow/orange appearance. The flavor is wheat, honey, and just a hint of ginger. What’s going on with this one really? This is not a horrible beer just horribly boring. Glad I only picked up a 12oz. Next please!

Pours hazy orange, small white head. Ginger is present -- but like a faint apricot nectar, pretty flat other than that. No real finish -- just sweet malty esters. Not very good to me, but you might like it.

Pours a hazy orange into the glass without much of a retentive head... the teeniest of lace may be noted as the brew moves down the glass. The nose is of nondescript light spices (ok, ginger since you told me, but not discernible in a blind whiff test). The flavors follow in tow, an American Wheat base with lots of herbs and vegetal notes. The ginger root begins to present itself mid-palate, lingering through the finish, building momentum as the brew warms. The mouthfeel is light with decent carbonation levels. Although it’s drinkable, it’s not nearly complex enough to be effective.

Bu à la brasserie, en fut (échantillon). Blonde dorée, peu de collet. Arome de gingembre très présant, peu de malte. Goût de gingembre amère, peu malté. Passable!
