| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 7, 2007 My parents visited the Atlantic Brewing Company in Bar Harbor, Maine while on vacation last year (2006) and brought me back a 12 oz bottle of this beer and three others (Atlantic Bar Harbor Real Ale, Atlantic Bar Harbor Blueberry Ale, and Atlantic Coal Porter) ... Thanks mom and dad! --
Atlantic Mount Desert Island Ginger is a clear, golden yellow color with a small white head that quickly dissipates to leave a thin veil. Pale malt and ginger are evident in the aroma as well as a weak honey sweetness. The flavor is akin to a lager or wheat beer with some ginger in it. The ginger is actually quite well done in this beer as it doesn’t overpower at all and is used to complement the base maltiness of the beer. A lemon zest and spicy hop bitterness in the finish really helps to balance out this beer. There is also a slight alcohol burn in the finish. This beer is light bodied, but not overly carbonated which helps even it out on the palate. This is probably one of the the better beers with ginger in it that I’ve had! It like the ginger smell. Spice ginger taste is prevalent but creates an earthy mouth feel that is slight unpleasant.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 14, 2007 Bottle, no notches on date stamp. Slightly cloudy topaz with a humongous head that lasts. Nose is strong ginger; occasional whiffs of crackers, citrus, malt and grassy-herby hops hidden underneath. Taste is strong ginger, some dry bread, slight lemon, and bitter herb hops on the finish. Non-ginger flavors become more apparent at the end of the glass, after my tongue is sort of desensitized to the ginger. Palate is light-medium bodied, fairly smooth, slightly astringent and sticky at the end. I like the fact they make this beer, but you really gotta be craving ginger for this one to be your style. Better than the typical American Wheat though, and actually one of the more memorable beers from this brewery. esjaygee (1519), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 13, 2009 Hazy gelatinous orange with a thin white head that’s gone pretty quick and has a lively look to it. Aroma of ginger, malt, mild corn, dough and mild cola. Taste of ginger, malt and mild corn. Finishes spicy and dry. Aurelius (2648), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jan 22, 2005 The aroma was somewhat a cross between ginger and sulfides (like in dandruff shampoos). Hazy wheatish gold with flocculent yeast and suspended particulates. Mild ginger flavor makes for a very mellow beer -- while I didn’t like it as well as some other ginger beers, it has some subtlety without being overly complex. A bit of nutty sweetness. Hopping is muted. Medium to medium light body is pithy enough. Finish is fairly quick, except for the residual spice and sulfides. This would be a good one to try with oriental food. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 30, 2007 Amber color with a a smaller white popcorn colored head. Fairly tame in aroma, with ginger being the most dominate. Some hints of wheat and cookie dough at well. Fuller flavors, with caramel and malt in the front and carrying through to the finish. Ginger and generic spice come in mid swizzle. A sharp spice, even alcohol seems to come in right at the start of the finish and dries the linger out. Left with a dry ginger residue.
