Commercial Description:
Bottled (pasteurised).
NOTE: Onlty ratings for the bottled version here. The cask version has a separate entry.
Three Sisters Scottish Ale (4.2% abv) is a dark, fruity, refreshing ale that proves a perennial favourite, and is named after the dramatic range of mountains in Glencoe.
Chocolate Malt helps to give this beer its very attractive dark ruby colour, as well as contributing to some of the toasty and liquorice flavours in the beer.
However, a very large charge of whole-flower hops balances the dark malt character with an abundance of hop fruit flavours. These include dried and fresh fruit flavours as well as some more citrus tones not normally found in such a dark beer.
There’s enough ‘going on’ in Three Sisters to keep even the most demanding real ale aficionado happy, whilst the very approachable fruit makes this a popular drink across the board.

Deep copper/amber with an off white head. Note is caramel and toffee, with some toasted bread and plum notes. Palate is similar. Finish is firm and quenching. A nice beer, nothing stunning, but I’d drink it again.
