Aroma is faint but offers some toffee with some floral hop. Taste is surprisingly harsh with unmalted barley leading. That soon fades and floral hops move to the front along with some caramel malt and molasses. A dry bitter aftertaste. gabrielsyme (66), Ohio, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 14, 2008 From the bottle this poured a deep amber body, tinited with brown, and capped by a short-lived eggshell head. The aroma was sweet and malty with touches of caramel and molasses. Some burnt toast bitterness was added to the flavor and help to temper the sweetness. Okay, but there’s lots of other Oktoberfests out there to choose from.

Poured a dark amber color with a fairly substantial head which remained for several minutes. Pleasant taste for a marzen, not great and not bad. Not as smooth/creamy as other Oktoberfest beers (i.e. Sam Adams Oktoberfest). Has a more hoppy finish. MrBunn (1538), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 23, 2008 Bottle. A little bit of trepedation as I reached for this since all of my experiences with Atwater have been... well... mediocre. Anyhow, this beer pours a dark, dark amber with some reddsh highlights. Aromas are weak... maybe some maple or jammy fruit. This is a strange start for an Octoberfest. Anyhow, flavor is thick and sweet... maple syrup and jammy fruit are in full display, but it doesn’t come off as cloying till it is pretty warm as I’m almost done with the glass. Really interesting and well worth the try. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 19, 2008 Uncharacteristically fragrant, this aromatic Marzen has strong character but is bit too hoppy for the style and doesnt leave the most pleasant of finishes, but one could do worse.
