Draft sample at MBGF07. Poured clear straw color with an average frothy white head that diminished slowly with fair lacing. Light hoppy aroma. Light body with a watery texture. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of short duration.

On tap The Ginger Man NY
Appearance: crystal clear golden ale with mid top, fine creamy fizz in centre.3-
Nose: sweet front, grainy feel, bit thin lacking further development.
Flavor/Palate : soft front, citric sourness, wheat like softness with little of follow-up. Forgettable finish. Failed attempt of Kolsch.

Tap at Pacific Standard. Not really a Kolsch, but not a bad lager, really. Piss yellow pour, clear, with little head. Light but doughy, with pie crust and lockerroom in the aroma. Almond cookie flavor, clean and simple, but rather full bodied. Not too bad.

Bottle: The aroma has moderate amounts of Euro-lager sweeness with some light grassy bitterness. Pours a bright transparent gold with a small fizzy white head that diminishes quickly. The flavor starts with a light Euro-lager sweetness with a hint of lemon. The finish has a light grassy bitterness. Light bodied with somewhat of a fizzy mouthfeel.

Well, I kind of feel guilty for pairing this poor little fellow with the likes of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout and Deschutes The Abyss, but, let’s be honest. This is a stinker. Hazy light yellow body, thin off-white head. Corny, sweet aroma with grassy hops. Light, watery, corny body, grassy, with honey-like sweetness. A bit cardboardy. Pass.

12oz bottle, no date. Clear straw with a big three finger white head, good retention. Aroma of light lemon pulp and light sweet malts--pretty faint. Flavor is lemon again with some cheap sweet malts and cereal grain. No bitterness in the finish. Overcarbonated? You betcha. Probably about as bad as a room temperature Unibroue (the carbonation)--maybe not that bad. Watery body. Pretty much an all-around suckfest of a beer.

Tasted 5/13/08. 12oz bottle. Huge pillowy head. Hazy with a golden straw hue. Super lively. Mild yeasty doughy citrus aroma. Touch bready and caramel. Big effervescence. Light bodied and mildly tart. Touch appley. Citrus and bitter, yet crisp. Mild malts. Not bad, just slight.

i like this kolsch. it has complex flavors (THOUGH LITE) and it is refreshing low in calories and still somewhat flavorful and with a decent body. TOUCH OF DISHWATER AND FRUIT FLAVORS THAT WEAVE IN AND OUT A TOUCH OF BANANA AND A WHEATY COMPOSURE WITH ACCOMPANYING SPICE. it was worked thru and i think somewhat succesful. nice palate that is chalky and still refreshingly slick in the mid palate. the carbonation works here.
