Commercial Description:
Our malty, sweet dark lager is a hometown favorite. Our Dunkel is packed with subtle roasted malt flavors without the excessive bitterness and heaviness of many dark beers and has a balanced hop finish. O.G. 13.5 Plato 5.2% ABV

dark ruby, thin fine beige head, sweet chocolate aroma with a light fruity character, creamy body, sweet tart malt flavor with a nice cherry character, the dunkle was probably not intended to be a chocolate krek, but it turned out that way and is OK

rich sweet chocolate and caramel malt aroma, sweet dark caramel malt flavor, touch of chocolate is brought out by the sweetness, light earthy bitterness for balance, not infected but does not score higher

Black color. A Dark Lager with some oxidisation. Balanced, with the oxidisation to play a positive role, but nothing special.

(12oz bottle) Enormous beige head atop clear copper body. Aroma is medium sweet, nut, some lager lemon, caramel, light earthy. Taste is medium sweet, nut, chocolate/caramel, light raisin, lager yeast sourness. Effervescent light-medium body.

Pale darkish brown color with a large off-white head. Aroma of some toasted malts and maize. Starts mildly sugary sweet with a touch of roasted malts toward the finish. Clean and crisp without any off-flavors, not a bad dunkel, just not all that interesting either.

Bottle... Clear, dark, ruby lager with a large, creamy, off-white head. Terrific retention. Very subtle aromas and flavors of toffee, chocolate, almonds and balancing, drying hops. Light-bodied and lightly creamy with lively carbonation. Short, thin, clean finish. Refreshing and very drinkable for a lager.

Pours brown with a huge tan head. This one’s a real gusher on opening. Smells of fresh fruit, some tartness. Tastes earthy with a cherry like finish. Very tingly mouthfeel.

Drinking from a bottle of Atwater Dunkel - A very smooth drink. Rich red color, nice head. Not much else. I expect more in a dunkel.

Large fizzy/foamy light tan head. Murky brown color with a hint of orange in the light. Pleasant toasted malt aroma. Nothing spectacular, just malt. Dry throughout. Light musty malt with a mild sourdough finish. Just not much in here for flavor and the lack in the finish, really hurts this one. If there were more up front the cleaning light sourness would not seem so out of place. As it is, it like chewing on caramel roast barley and washing it down with quinine,
