greedycheater (69), Oklahoma, USA Mar 19, 2008 watery for a dunkel. Ruby red in appearance, not as dark as I expected. Huge head and tempting aroma - it just doesn’t deliver on taste. Palate is medium to light bodied with minimum aftertaste.
stegosaurus (1883), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 26, 2008 Bottle sampled. Pours amber/brown with a large size beige head. Aroma is prodominately caramel, with some toasted malts and chocolate coming slightly through as well. The flavor is sweet upfront, caramel, chocolate, and toastiness and bmild bitter finish. Light bodied, and thin mouth feel. jjpm74 (2694), Connecticut, USA Apr 18, 2008 Pours brown with a huge tan head. This one’s a real gusher on opening. Smells of fresh fruit, some tartness. Tastes earthy with a cherry like finish. Very tingly mouthfeel. efrumtheidiot (173), Maryland, USA Feb 22, 2008 pours a clear dark brown with a tan head. caramel malt, grass, some wood on the nose. taste has malty grassy notes, very sudtle roast notes. mid-bodied with a fizzy, bubbly mouthfeel. quick shot of bitterness hits on the tail end. pretty refreshing, but not very exciting. if you like dark lagers/dunkels you’ll probably enjoy it. might make a good intro brew that you could use to convince your compadres to enjoy good beer. troyc (929), A ’moist’ county, Texas, USA Dec 21, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a brown color with a huge beige head. Actually foamed out of the bottle when I opened it up (not a good sign). Dusty aroma includes some cocoa and grass or tobacco. Taste was similar, with only subtle notes of dark malts that one would expect in a dunkel. Overcarbonated as well. Maybe I got a bad bottle, but I was thoroughly unimpressed by this beer.
