Back in the mid-90s, the Atwater Block Brewery in Detroit, brewed this beer. Today, the brewery is called "Stoney Creek" and it is good to see this one being brewed again. Pours out to a beautiful gold color in the glass with a generous head. Aroma is that of biscuits and a faint yeast. The taste is very, very good. You can taste and sense the wonderful hop balance in this beer. It is crisp and refreshing and surprisingly lower priced ($5.99/6-Pack) than most micros. This is a fine rendition of a German-style lager.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Oct 15, 2003 This brew was yellow/gold in color with a minimal head and a ring lacing that lasted a couple of swigs anyway. Mild malty and yeasty dough aroma, sweet. Light to medium bodied, with some soft dinner roll and honey flavors, and a "kiss of the hops" as they say. Just perfectly balanced, fresh and subtle with a smooth and dryish finish. jsquire (2107), St. Marys, Ohio, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 20, 2007 Heavy golden pour with a strong light copper tint. Thick foamy head that settles to a steady 1/2", nice traces of lacing, and a full bodied carbonation. Lightly grassy aroma with a thick fruity scent, sort of like apples and blueberries. I really like the nose on this, sometimes it’s hard to find a lager with an abundant and pleasing aroma. Nice thick body for the style, very creamy with a good bitter finish. Great on the palate except I would discover a random soapiness once in a while throughout the beer. Flavor has a thick pale malt content, nice and grassy. Bitter and fruity hops, this is a well balanced Helles. This is more aggressive than I was expecting, and this is a good thing. Nice lager by this brewer. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA
