Atwater Salvation IPA

Decent IPA, but definitely too much malt as the hop taste is masked almost completely, and there is a weird sour finish. Not highly recommended.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a HUGE white head. Seems to be overly carbonated. Aroma seems a bit off with an odd combination of pine and grapefruit notes. Flavor is too sour and combines really awkwardly. I gave it to four of my friends who don’t drink craft beer but they agreed that something was off.

A hazy gold ipa, with lots of carbonation and a tall white head. A really good looking beer. Flavor and aroma unfortunatley, have little to offer. Sour grapefruit, stale bread, and minimal hops. There is lots of citrus, but it is just a little too sour, for an ipa.

Bottled. Poured a full glass of foam that left sticky lacing as it descended.. hazy medium golden with a tall head when it settled. The aroma picked up white peppery spicage, apricot, and wet grass over a pale malt base.. somewhat sour overall. The flavor also had a pale malt base with sour light fruits (apricots and peaches) and peppery yeast around.. finished quick and dry with a touch of cardboard joining light fruits.. seemed a little infected, but it actually worked OK for this one. Light-medium bodied with way too active carbonation on the palate.. balance beyond that was actually alright.

Less foamy than the pilsner, but a head that was hard to tame. Bit freaky in the flavor. Not so sure I liked it - rather like a homebrew that makes you scratch your head and wonder if it’s genius or insanity. Perhaps neither. I drank it and have another, but not longing to try it.

Bottle at Sunset Grill, mid 2008
Colorful, copper-orange body is topped by a small, but somewhat stable white head. Obvious, straightforward cascade hopping in the nose lends notes of marmalade and freshly cut oranges. Sweet, honey-like malts and notes of caramel butt in on the end but nothing really lingers, instead being replaced by a dry, cardboard-like blandness/nuttiness. Alcohol notes even creep in somewhat, spoiling the hop display.
Too sweet, as usual from this brewery, in flavor, with candied oranges and nearly cloying vanilla emerging as it warms and breathes. Sticky-sweet mouthfeel becomes lightly watery on the finish. Some coarse pine resin-like hop notes hang on the end, lending a light sourness.

Bottle. Pours an orange body with an off white rocky head. Pine and citrus shine through with a thin malt body. Dry and cloying finish. eh.

Bottle,. hazy orange with a huge but ugly-shaped off-white head - I have to wait a few minutes until I can even drink anything other than foam. Aroma of piney hops and caramel. Bitter hoppy flavor with some malty (maybe a bit grainy) sweetness and some pine needles. Light to medium-bodied.
