BeerBelcher (709), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Dec 27, 2007 In a world crowded with excellent IPAs, I can’t say I will again find the time for this beer. There is nothing wrong with it, and its light character and perfuminess are interesting, but I didn’t enjoy it all that much.
Appearance was a very light yellow color with lots of billowing head like you might find on a secondary fermented Belgian golden ale, which is what this beer looked like. Aroma was lightly hoppy, but in a strange perfumey and slightly medicine-y way. Flavor was very lightly hoppy with a pretty big malt presence. I definitely did not get the "nice citrus finish" that the bottle promised, nor did it seem very hoppy for a beer that claims to be dry hopped. Mouthfeel was very light.
Not bad, but I won’t be returning to this beer. I picked up my 12oz single at Brew&Brew in North Ridgeville, OH. Shame on you Atwater Brewing - this beer carries no date code.
kmeves (997), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Aug 8, 2008 Pours a clear light amber with a small white head and some lacing. Aroma is lightly sweet malt with some grassy hops. Flavor is more hoppy with pine and citrus and a light malt backbone. Medium bodied, slick texture. Finishes surprisingly long and bitter. joshwilfong (509), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 29, 2008 golden with huge head. flavor low on the malt which makes it very unbalanced, not to mention the lack of quality hop bitterness or flavor. weak effort phishpond417 (1360), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jul 28, 2008 I agree this beer was anything but an IPA, more like a weak APA. pours a hazey cloudy orange colour. Head was nice sized, white and semi citrusy. but for the most part the flavor was weak on hops and fruit. Not a whole lot of floral character in this one. alexsdad06 (618), Ohio, USA Jul 28, 2008 Bottled. Pours slightly hazy golden color with a large off white head that goes forever. The aroma has a hint of spice and some citrus with pale malt. I generally like a bit more hops with my IPAs. The flavor is more grassy pale malt with light citrus and spice. Like others have said, this does not resemble an IPA as much as it does a pale. Not going to revisit this one. AllAboutStout (451), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 27, 2008 Pours light gold in color with a huge, four inches of head that doesn’t seem to want to go anywhere. Smells like a light lager. No sign of hops anywhere. Maybe a Pale or a Helles, but in no way is this possibly a IPA. Taste is a bit skunky and highly carbonated. Don’t know what’s going on with this beer, but it is not good. Pretty big on the mouthfeel. That’s about the only positive thing I can say about this beer. Now I know.
