Commercial Description:
Our Weizen Dopplebock is dominated with 60% wheat that imparts a nutty-bisquit flavour. Ir is complimented with Perle and Hersbrucker hops for a nice sweet finish. Our biggest beer yet. Prost!

On tap at Frisco Grille: Transparent dark copper amber pour has a thin ring of clingy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel and toffee with some light fruity esters and a touch of bready German yeasty notes. Starts with decent fullness and effervescent carbonation along with a rich sweet caramel and malted wheat flavor. Could use some more authentic Bavarian yeast and banana clove notes, but has pretty good complexity and bitter balance. A pretty decent weizenbock.

I enjoyed this beer on draft at Max’s Taphouse in Baltimore. The beer had a dark brown, somewhat clear color with a small creamy off-white head that had great cling but little retention. The beer had an aroma with earthy hops, some grain, barley, and caramel, and a good bit of figs and raisins. The taste was sweet with a deep fruity raisin effect and some sour grainy notes too. The beer was very wet and smooth, with low carbonation and on the thinner side.

On tap @ HopCat in Grand Rapids. Pours caramel brown with a white head. Nose is banana, booze, clove, and apple. Flavor is about the same. Lingering sweetness and somewhat boozy. Interesting beer with caramel/ apple sweetness.

On tap: The aroma consists of moderate caramel, chocolate, and faint medicinal notes. It’s a transparent dark amber with a moderate khaki head. The flavor starts with caramel and faint chocolate. The finish has some faint banana and a hint of citrus and earthy hops. Medium-full bodied with mild carbonation.

On tap at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Dark orange-brown body, almost sanguine, topped by a thin cream head. Huge nose of burnt caramel, wet hay, and alcohol, dry and medicinal. Interesting body with unexpected sweet berries complementing the heavy caramels, hay, and alcohol. Leafy, bitter hops attempt to cut the heavy malts and booze. Potent and thick without being too sweet.

Draft sample at MBG Winterfest 2009. Poured cleard dark brown color with a large frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate spicy roasted malt aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.

On draught. At the Bocktown, pleasant place! Atwater tuefl S6L4F2T408: Nice darker clear color. Decent tan head. Smell is beery fresh, rather fruity at times. Fairly strong alky bite on the taste buds. Almost like strong ale, or possibly even barley wine tripel status. Decent carbonation. Finish is medicinal linger, for a while anyway.
