Commercial Description:
This is a dopplebock high-gravity lager. This one is big, black and sweet. It’s malty character is derived from two caramel malts along with Munich malt to create the smoothest high-gravity beer this side of the pond.

two of the six i got on my SC nov 09 trip. Badass name and label. For a big doppel went down easy. Carmel tasting, slight sweet. No hop presence. not much in the way of a full bodied flavor profile. Okay

(Rating #2732)

Pours rather black. Flavor of deeply roasted grains and raisins. All in all, an excellent beer, which I hope is indicative of how the other beers of this style are.

12oz bottle. Dark brown pour with a big tan head. Malty aroma with notes of caramel, brandy, nuts and chocolate. Caramel flavor with some nuts before a dry, semi-bitter and slightly boozy finish with hints of coffee and chocolate. Had this on tap about a year ago and wasn’t all that impressed, but this bottle was very good. Certainly exceeded my expectations for Atwater.

This bottled brew from a restaurant poured a small sized head of finely sized very dark tan colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a semi-opaque uncarbonated body and a poor lacing. The weak undoppelbock like aroma was malty and mecicinal. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of dark malt and medicinal notes. Not one that I would buy again. Very undoppelbock like.
