Commercial Description:
This is a dopplebock high-gravity lager. This one is big, black and sweet. It’s malty character is derived from two caramel malts along with Munich malt to create the smoothest high-gravity beer this side of the pond.

Bottle. Aroma hops on light choco/caramel with strong spaghetti funk (which I’ve come to associate with certain strains of yeast, am I right?). Deep ruby body tends to brown, with a tanned, tiny-bubbled rocky head. Medium-dry, musty and slightly funky (v.s.), with toffee, caramel, nuts, a hint of fig. Touch of cherry in the back, and some lightly smoked/peaty malt which really grew on me after an ounce or two. A slight bit of sweetener. Medium body with a tangy, dark aftertaste. Alcohol very, very well hidden. Not terribly German, but a pretty good American dark lager.

Nearly black bory with some garnet at the edges. The head is lmedium khaki colored and long lasting. The aroma is sweet with some caramel and vanilla. There is also a little bit of grape juice. The taste is light milk chocolate with some iced tea. There is a light coffee type finish. A decent dopplebock.

Mammoth tan head with dark brown beer underneath it. Aroma of heavy spice, cinnamon, smoke and light alcohol. Sometime soon the soap bubbly head will go down and be able to take a sip… Taste of molasses, caramel, cinnamon, chocolate. Hides alcohol decently, though I can feel it a bit on my tongue. Very malty and interesting.

Strong flavor and malt character mark this doppel as an ominous concoction as the supernatural name implies. Typical complex flavors of dark sweet fruits and roasted malts dominate. Hides the 9.5% quite well. A very good beer.

Clearish cherry cola colored pour with thin white head. Mild bread crust, dark fruit, some faint raisin. Aromas are very thin and the flavor follows suit. Some rye bread, some roasty qualities, mild fruit. Ends thin and slightly tart followed by thin roasty bread character. This beer was so thin and dissapointing. Where is the flavor? Where is the body?

Got this in a trade. Poured a decent brown that allowed light. Thin frothy tan head. The aroma is sweet, grainy, light alcohol, caramel, raisiny. The flavor was similar, warm, sweet, grain. Decent mouthfeel.

Thanks again nimbleprop. 12OZ bottle. Pours dark brown/black, rocky tan head. Big piney hop aroma. Big malt presence, milk chocolate milkshake, nutty, and some notes of roast. Two tons of malt! Big chewiness. very balanced, big malt character paired with aromatic hops. ABV is very well hidden. Very smooth. thanks again Mac.

Had this one bottled in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, thanks Slothgar! Cloudy, dark brown pour with a nice, tan head. Malty, a bit of sweet cheery and milk chocolate nose, strong but sweet, unusually fruity. Strong finish. Excellent!
