Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with red poking thru. Small tan head. Aroma is big roasty chocolate and malts. Flavor is burnt cocoa malts, hints of smoke. A little bitterness in the finish. I liked it.

Well, this was a letdown. Celebrator costs less and is way better....sad. Just not much flavor/taste here. Kinda bubbly etc. No mas

Pours clean dark amber and walnut with a creamy red-tinted mocha head, thin aroma of mineral water and some malt, very thin-bodied and passively-flavored: minimal cereal malt with only the lightest touch of hopped bitterness. Very dissapointing

Bottle: Poured a thick malt chocolate color, with a huge off white head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is malty, with caramel, has a slightly bitter finish.

Bottle ( 12oz ). Clear brown-ruby with a huge fluffy tan head. Wow - smells like roasty prunes, slightly sour. Taste? Yep, lemony prunes - interesting, herbal, bitter, some alcohol. Light body, very acidic and carbonated, quite a dry lemon finish and linger - ehhh.

Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of cookie, roasted and nutty, moderate herbs for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with hints of raisin and cola. Head is small, frothy off-white, with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear dark mahogany. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly bittersweet, moderate acidic and a bit sour. Palate is medium, watery and has a lively carbonation. Nice malty complexity to this Doppelbock.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Down Beach Liquors, 11/10/09

Aroma: Sort of sweet nose with some toasted characteristics, caramel and cherries, along with a bit of plum
Appearance: This one pours a dark reddish brown color with a lot of fluffy tan head atop it
Flavor: Tastes much like it smells with a strong malty flavor that feel much like a nice Doppelbock should
Palate: This beer has a decent amount of body, it’s not an overpowering beer, but it is really quite solid and drinkable
Overall Impression: I almost forgot where I purchased this one, but then I remembered. I thought it was a local beer to NJ (because I hadn’t seen it before and it was sold at a beach liquor store), but contrary to my belief of what they would offer, it is a relatively rare, but still non-local beer. Anyway, this one feels like a really nice beer, and I enjoyed drinking it quite a bit.

two of the six i got on my SC nov 09 trip. Badass name and label. For a big doppel went down easy. Carmel tasting, slight sweet. No hop presence. not much in the way of a full bodied flavor profile. Okay

(Rating #2732)
