ruby red body with no head. cloyingly sweet aroma and flavor..very sugary, syrupy, with hints of spice and bread..just a touch of raison in the finish...

Medium brown beer with a foamy, lasting head - aroma of fig, prune, raisin, and a sour, possibly infected character - oh, yea, she tastes sour and infected up front - there is some caramel, raisin, and date underneath, but the acidic, sour flavor ruins it, even making it taste metallic at times.

Very tastey beer. Pours a dark amber-copper colour, clear, with little to no head. no lacing. aromas are mildly nutty, of malts and black cherry. sweet flavors with a semi tart finish. overall very pleasent.

Nice, decent bock. I rate this pretty high in Atwater’s beers. Not at good as some, but great compared to most. Nice malty flavor, rare to see in a bock. Great flavor overall.

Bottled. Poured medium reddish-brown with a short cap of beige head and it was chock fulla fine sediment. The aroma picked up unnaturally-sweet caramel paired with what might have been darker fruit skins (whatever it was, it was pervasive). The flavor was a little better.. drawn, sweetened-up caramel paired with floral and herbal accents.. some fruit skin sourness on the edges.. tacky, sweet, warm finish, but it held its alcohol OK. Creamy carbonation on the palate that filled the mouth.. unfortunately, this was covered up by somewhat sour, mostly gross notes at the edges that unmercifully carried through the finish.. change a few elements and this would be alright.

A heavy, malty style beer. Sweet body, but not overly watery-sweet. Not complicated, but easy and nice to drink.

I could add this to fish and chips because it had a flavor of malt vinegar along with some off balanced sweetness, figs, fruits and nuts. The malty tones were to the point that I didn’t finish more than half of this one. Overall, this isn’t a disaster but it doesn’t appeal to my personal tastes. It seems too sweet even though I do like other doppelbocks.

12 oz bottle: Nice caramel malt, sweet, somewhat a bready, a cardboard note, and a bit of roasted nut notes. Appearance is a deep amber color with a thick off white head that lingers around for a while. Taste has a caramel/fake/candy kind of taste to it. The malts are evident but there is somewhat of a medicinal factor to this brew. Palate is light and somewhat malty, lightly sweet on the lips. Overall, It has potential but it has some oxidized notes thinking that this is an older bottle, or mishandled bottle. Cheers!
