12oz bottle. Poured a darker reddish color witha larger sized off white head. Lacing left on the glass Aromas of nuts, brown sugar, caramel, and fruity. Tastes of caramel, bread, and nuts. Tastes a little on the thin side and did not live up to the aroma. Alcohol well hidden.

12 oz bottle-pours a tan head and dark red color. Aroma is mild medium malt, peat/chalky, sour. Taste is medium malt-cocoa powder, peat/chalky, sour. Minimum carbonation. Thanks jwc215 for picking this out. 2.5 part way in. Deteriorates from there to 1.9

Bottle from Pat’s Liquors in Porter, Indiana: This has a clear chestnut body with a tall beige head and plenty of lace. The aroma is light - sweet and malty with dark brown sugar and mineral water. The flavor is much the same - and thin. Odd dry finish. For some reason, despite the sturdy ABV, this seems like a lightweight drink.

Ruddy bronze color with a taller initial head that leave a big ring at the top of the glass as the rest of the bubble join together to form BIG bubbles and a somewhat rocky top. Perhaps a touch light in color for the style but still nice to look at. Big butterscotch and toffee aromas, sure this isn’t an english strong? Hints of earth an lactose. The long I try to figure out the scents the more I’m not pleased with them. Plenty of caramel malts, light brown sugar, bits of almonds and touch of toasted malt. This is a doppelbock in the sense of an american doppelbock. Stronger than the typical american bock, with the same somehow "cheap" darkness and flavor.

Bottle from Party Town. Poured a clear brown color with a large frothy light brown head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate sweet toasted malt aroma. Medium body with smooth texture. Medium toasted sweet malt flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of average duration. Solid brew.

Bottle from Capone’s. Deep ruby pour with 1-finger khaki head. Aroma of roasty caramel malt, cabernet, funky earthy yeast, mild berries, nuts, and brown sugar. Tastes malty, with notes of cherry, nutmeg, figs, almonds, and some funky and spicy notes late. Stays a bit tart, and could use a bit more balance, but this one isn’t bad.

Bottled. Poured medium reddish-brown with a short cap of beige head and it was chock fulla fine sediment. The aroma picked up unnaturally-sweet caramel paired with what might have been darker fruit skins (whatever it was, it was pervasive). The flavor was a little better.. drawn, sweetened-up caramel paired with floral and herbal accents.. some fruit skin sourness on the edges.. tacky, sweet, warm finish, but it held its alcohol OK. Creamy carbonation on the palate that filled the mouth.. unfortunately, this was covered up by somewhat sour, mostly gross notes at the edges that unmercifully carried through the finish.. change a few elements and this would be alright.

Appearance: clear dark brown with cherry wood and large snowy off white top. 4-
Nose: sweet, brown sugars , malts with fruity hints – pear and berry.
Flavor/Palate : Medium full bodied. Soft in character . Mellow approach of sweet fruity malts but without depth of German counterpart. Dry plums with other fruits. Fruity, little alcohol burn. Some work still needs to be done.
