Handome pour, dark chestnut with ruby highlights and a creamy tan head that hangs around for a while. The aroma is a sweet-yet stale caramel, perhaps lightly roasted. Very thin, watery palate. It tastes like the brewer intended it to be malty, but watered away the caramel sweetness. Hops appear quietly and briefly in the finish. As a dunkel, this is a so-so American dark lager.

I haven't had this in a awhile. Looks like it's now being contract brewed by Point Brewery. I believe this has been contract brewed by Huber, Heilmann, and Cold Springs in days gone by. Ruby chestnut color with a minimal head of light tan bubbles. Minimal caramel malt aroma. More flavor than aroma. Initial malt flavor with dark caramel. Dry finish with only a minimal touch of hops. Interesting feel, seems smooth at first, but then stinging effervesence later in the quaff. Overall a dark brew for the masses.

Bottled; can't imagine drinking this on draught for some reason. Dark roan complexion, little head. The berry thing is offputting, bunkypop has it right -- sort of like a nightmarish fruity-scottish ale. I found it slightly more flavorful and drinkable than the Golden, but the balance is off and it's too carbonated. This was perhaps my first "dark" beer of any kind. Sad.

This poured a dark amber. The aroma is caramel and toast. The taste has caramel and some abc sugar gum. There is also a grassy note. Better than I expected.

After trying the skunky Augsburger Golden I was a little leary to try this one, but I’ll try anything once. Pours a clear dark brown brew with a fast dissolving off white head. Very little lacing if any. Aroma of roasted nuts, medium malt, caramel, and a touch of toffee. Taste is highly carbonated, nutty, and some corn. Finish is watery with a hint of bitter aftertaste. Though it comes in a green bottle, at least this one was not skunky as the Augsburger Golden. The Augsburger from Huber was better.

This bottled brew poured a medium sized head of light brown colored fine to medium sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a transparent carbonated ruby red brown colored body. The aroma was sweetly malty. The mouth feel was mild and smooth initially with a tingly finish. The flavor was mild astringent and contained sweet malts with a mild hop background.

Autumn Brew Review 2004. Brown color. Vague malt presence with an actual touch of alcohol. Bland.

Bottle poured a clear dark brown with a small amber head. Aromas of carmel and burnt toast with some sour notes. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmelized malt, some nuttiness and a bit of smoke with a sweet finish.
