It is bland but full bodied, with a metalic ring and a sweet grain corn flavor. Finish has the very slight taste of cheap hop with as mentioned a warm aftertaste I did not find pleasant. Disappointment! wahiawa (1), USA does not count | 0.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Apr 28, 2006 Augsburger drafts for 5 cents on Wednesdays. That’s the way it used to be-- circa 1982, Normal, Illinois. Now, like all better-than-good things, Augsburger is only a shallow reflection of its former self--Stevens Point brewery should be ashamed. The original Augsburger woke me up to good beer ("So, this is what beer can taste like!"), and turned me away from bud miller for good. It was rich, scintillating, deep, and pungent (in a good way). Its aftertaste was warm and slightly sweet (like walking home on an autumn night from your first kiss). And, most important, in a time when no one (no one) was brewing this kind of beer, Augsburger was carrying the torch. I wonder how many microbrewers of today were influenced by the original Augie? We should hold a wake. Here’s to Augsburger; here’s to Minnesota; here’s to that first kiss. Augsburger is dead. Long live Augsburger thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA

The aroma was astringent malty and hoppy . The mouth feel was tingly with a malty hoppy astringent flavor. hotstuff (3181), Indiana, USA

Very small white head that mostly diminished with no lacing, transparent, carbonated, and a yellow hue. Nose of hops and corn. Oh boy. Flavor was sweet, mildly bitter and some mild hops. Tingly mouthfeel. oldrtybastrd (1846), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 28, 2006 Pours a little darker than most american lagers. Aromas of corn, hops, and you know the rest. Flavor is a little more pronounced in this lager, a little more bitter and more pronounced burnt flavor. Just a bit more flavor than most. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA

Not much going on in flavor, either....slight caramel sweetness. Virtually no hop profile whatsover! Very disappointing. PorterPounder (3148), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 19, 2006 Nice surprise - overheard the guy across the aisle from me on a Northwest flight from Baton Rouge to Memphis ask what kind of beer they had and the Mary Steenburgen look-alike flight attendant mentioned something called Augsburger - surely there was not a beer I had not rated on an airplane! Pours a slightly murky medium golden from the can with a brief pithy white head. Faint hoppy aroma with some grassy notes, faint hints of metal. Flavor has some honey sweet notes, a bit of cake mix sweetness and a smidgen of cheap lager plainness - but overall decent. Mouthfeel is slightly thin and it metallicizes in the finish. Not bad.
