Very pale yellow, slightly hazy color with steadt small foamy head. Rubbery fruity aroma of mashed apples and pears dominates, hops and lime underlying there. Quite light-bodied for this high ABV, easy to drink, citrusy and fruity but hard mouthfeel. Palate does not show its 9 % but alcohol kicks in the aftertaste. Dissapointing brew. hopscotch (5511), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 6, 2005 Draft... Straw-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. The nose delivers tons of apple esters... both overripe and green... along with some doughy notes. More apple in the flavor... red delicious. Medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish. The high ABV is very well hidden, but otherwise I can’t think of anything really positive to say about this brew. I ordered the Augustijn, but maybe they poured me a bready cider instead. Something slightly unpleasant in the aroma, solventy, also yeast and citrus. Fruity, pears, melon, citrus, slightly bitter taste, again with something unpleasant in there. Not for me. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 18, 2004 Fruity citrus aroma, bread and yeast, light chalky hops. A bit sweet, mild alcohol. Cloudy pale amber with big white foamy lacing head. Medium-heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Starts with mild sweetness, neutral fruit, some pears. Alcohol flavor, light acidity, and mild bitterness. Bitter citrusy flavor throughout, grassy too. After is mild astringent bittersweetness. Alcohol warming. sayravai (3760), Helsinki, Finland
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 11, 2004 (Bottled) Very hazy, pale yellow color with a smallish head. Somewhat alcoholic, lemony, grassy and toffeeish aroma. Sweetish, lemony, witbierish flavor with licorice hints. Some yeast, acidity and fruitiness. Medium-bodied, quite carbonated and alcoholic palate. A disappointment compared to Augustijn. Quite easily drinkable, though. FROTHINGSLOSH (2036), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA

One of my staples at the Sharp Edge in Pittsburgh. Sampled again on draft this brew pours a straw yellow color with a small white head. The aroma is sweet and fruity with just a hint of a pleasant sour tang. The flavor is sweet and tangy with a light fruit flavor that yields to a yeastiness on the finish. There is a rather thick mouthfeel. Overall one of my favorite Belgian drafts.
