| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours golden with crisp head. Smells rich with hops. Tastes bitter as the name suggests. Nothing real distinctive stands out as far as flavor and smell goes other than just good hops. I would like to try this one again soon and maybe give a better review. j12601 (1332), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA

Hazy dark amber with a slowly deflating white head. Big hoppy aroma with light yeast notes. Medium bodied and softer than I would have anticipated without much bite. Finish develops slowly into a welcome bitter.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 12, 2008 Bottle pours clear amber with a decent and clingy white head. The aroma is orange and bread. The flavor is has a decent amount of orange marmalade and bread malt notes, with some hops to balance it out. The palate is a bit too lively for my tastes with an ESB, but decent bodied none the less. Overall, glad I tried it. gsmitty80 (650), Washington DC, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 5/5 | 11/20 | Oct 1, 2008 I enjoyed this esb alot. Exactly what i thought it would be from Avery. The flavors were very strong and it did have a nice traditional bitterness to it. Good for the style and another good beer by this brewery. Wulfstan (509), California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 23, 2008 This is a fairly tasty ESB.
It is copper with a fairly large off-white head that slowly shrinks to a lasting head and has decent lace.
The smell is juicy and leafy, with a little caramel, toasted bread, grapefruit, and a hint of pine. It’s very nice and is a little English.
The taste is fairly dry but flavourful with bread, juice, some caramel, with a bitterness of leaves and grapefruit taking over along with more juice and bread. It has pretty good balance and a definite light English quality. ehhdayton (1115), USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 16, 2008 Bottled. Poured amber with a white head. Aroma is a very mild sourness with bread malt. Starts out as a slight fruit flavor and then switches to the mild sourness noticable in the aroma, and finishes wet with some pear. Mouthfeel is medium. daknole (3002), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 12, 2008 Bottle from total wine. This one is average at best. Pours an amber color wtih a small whitish head. Aroma is a good dose of hops and some malt wtih a hint of some type of grain. Flavor isnt bad so much as boring and bland. Not nearly enough bite in this one.
