Commercial Description:
Named for the 54 Colorado peaks which tower over 14,000 feet in elevation, our session beer is a spectacular copper hued beauty. The treatment of our water to simulate English hard water and the blending of several specialty malts and hops produce a delicate balance between aromatic maltiness and herbal hops.

The nice copper look from the pour gives a medium head. The aromas show some nice scents of spices and hops. The mouthfeel is crisp with layers of bitter hops.

Pronounced mineral-hard water ESB. Earthy grassy with clove and coriander. This is in no way bland but perhaps a little light. Well balanced hop/malt combination. Underrated.

Copper colored body. Lightly crisp hop character balanced with some bready malt. Nothing too exceptional.

12-oz. Pours a hazy coppery orange with spotty white head and little lace. Fairly vacant nose; some dust and some yeast. Fizzy, medium-bodied attack with light flavors; some grassy hay notes and wheat bread in there. Very light herbal hop notes close it out. Shockingly subdued flavor profile for an Avery.

12 oz. bottle. Clean, yeasty aroma of moderate strength, featuring a Pacific Northwest hops scent and a touch of cardboard. Pours a slightly hazy orange-tinted bronze with a small to moderate amount of beige/off-white head. Simple, bitter, slightly metallic flavor. I’m really having trouble pulling any flavors out of this beer other than the hops bitterness. Predictably bitter aftertaste. Light to medium body. Unique texture and mouthfeel that I can best describe as "fuzzy." I’ve never experienced that palate sensation from any other beer, and it largely overshadows the limited flavor profile. As interesting as the texture is, I wouldn’t necessarily descibe it, or this beer in general, as "good."

Rated 5/5/07: Clear copper color with a diminishing 2" thick head and good lacing. Biscuity aroma coupled with a touch of bitter hops. Smooth and medium bodied, I was impressed with the mouthfeel expecting it to be watery. Flavor had a good maltiness kind of sweet with flavor of caramel and bread. Hops are quick to be recognized and contribute more of a mild bitterness rather than much flavor. It’s nicely balanced yet the flavor still seemed a touch too bland to really make this one stand up and be noticed. Overall I liked it, would make a good "anytime" beer.

Nothing very special about this one. It looked alright: clear dark orange with a somewhat firm offwhite head. The aroma was quite subdued - a bit of floral hops evident but not pronounced by any means. The taste was disappointingly low on hops as well. Drinkable but not something I’d go out of my way to try again.

ESB? Not quite - displays all the characteristics of an american pale ale - is it a good APA? yea, pretty much - nothinhg stand out, but it has everything in the right places - nothing to get excited about.
