Commercial Description:
We the Brewers of Avery Brewing Company, in order to form a more perfect ale, require a new leadership that can liberate us from our quagmires in foreign lands; embrace environmentally sound energy alternatives to imported oil; heal our ailing health care system; free us from tyrannical debt and resurrect the collapsing dollar. We hereby pledge to provide him or her with an ample amount of our Presidential Pale Ale to support in the struggle for the aforementioned goals! Hail to the New Chief!

Not an "Imperial" pale ale, this is a democracy. It's Presidential! Take the all-American pale ale, a bipartisan blend of malt and hops, increase to both Avery Brewing standards, and then, of course, dry hop the result with that most quintessential of American hops, Cascades, and you get this... Ale to the Chief. A brew worthy of the Oval Office! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, hops and yeast.

The inaugural balls should be serving this Avery beer, because it is darn good. The brew is strong - almost IPA like in it’s hoppiness. As for appearance, we have a hazy, dark orange hue paired with a nice white lofty head. Flavors consist of apricots and peaches. Ale to the Chief has a fair amount of tartness to offer as well. The end of a sip leaves dry bitterness that tingles the back of the throat nicely. An inspiring beer for an inspiring new president!

22 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy orange copper with a medium frothy off white head that lasts awhile. The aroma is a very sweet hop with fruit and floral notes. Good sticky lacing on the glass. The taste is a sweet fruit malt with grapefruit and pine. Easy to drink hiding the alcohol well. A good American Strong Ale from Avery.

Bottle: Poured a copper color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some minimal lacing. Aroma of C-hops is pretty strong and dominating with some nice clean citrus notes easily detectable. Taste is also dominated by some cascade hops with some clear citrus notes and a medium dry caramel malt body. Good carbonation with a full body and no alcohol was apparent. Nothing to write about home but very well done for the style nonetheless.

Bottle. Moderate malt and hop aromas of roasted, nutty, herbs and pine, light leather for the yeast with background notes of pear, brown sugar and pepper. Head is large, rocky, slightly off-white with excellent lacing and is fully lasting. Color is clear dark amber. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then the long finish is lightly sweet and acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, oily with a soft carbonation and finishes lightly astringent. The long bitter finish separates this beer from lesser American Strongs.

Amber pour with a big, three finger, white head that slowly fades to copious lacing. Loads of fresh citrus fruit aroma with a very sticky, sweet malt background. Very sweet flavor. Milk caramel notes blended with grapefruit, mango orange and a strange but not unpleasant cheese flavor that almost tastes like good roquefort. Sticky but oily medium full body with plentiful yet soft carbonation. This so close to being cloying but the massive hops bring it back. I think this could be the best beer possible to pair with really funky blue cheeses.

My dad just brought this home and we just split the bottle. This stuff is pretty tasty. It pours a darker amber with dissapearing head. It’s aroma is sweet, and actually a little overbearing. The flavor is also sweet, but also yeasty and has a slight maltiness in the finish. Oh yeah a more than generous amount of hops! I like this beer a lot. and it fully expresses my enthusiasm for this upcoming administration. GO OBAMA!

The strong hop aroma and sharp flavor grabbed my attention faster than a political scandal. A concoction of tasty malt and resiny hops, plenty of both and packed with flavor. Similar to a strong IPA. An excellent beer, one of my favorites so far from Avery. Mr. Obama should pass out a few of these when he meets the leaders of Hamas and Israel. Peace would be on the way.
