Commercial Description:
We the Brewers of Avery Brewing Company, in order to form a more perfect ale, require a new leadership that can liberate us from our quagmires in foreign lands; embrace environmentally sound energy alternatives to imported oil; heal our ailing health care system; free us from tyrannical debt and resurrect the collapsing dollar. We hereby pledge to provide him or her with an ample amount of our Presidential Pale Ale to support in the struggle for the aforementioned goals! Hail to the New Chief!

Not an "Imperial" pale ale, this is a democracy. It's Presidential! Take the all-American pale ale, a bipartisan blend of malt and hops, increase to both Avery Brewing standards, and then, of course, dry hop the result with that most quintessential of American hops, Cascades, and you get this... Ale to the Chief. A brew worthy of the Oval Office! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, hops and yeast.

Reviewed 11/4/2008 (bottle): Pours a pale yellowish body, with a very clear non-fizzy body. Good sized white head, but diminishing. Hoppy grapefruity aroma. Sweet syrupy smell like fig, plum. Bitter taste, sweetness & maltiness. Strong taste, alcoholy. Waiting for it to warm up...Strong grapefruitiness. Dry aftertaste. Not my thing, too much bitter for me.

On tap at Trappeze. Poured amber wih a white headd. Aroma is very malted with some citrus hops as well. Taste is a little more hoppy, with plenty of caramel backing. Finish is bitter. Solid hoppy effort, pretty good balance.

22oz bottle. Good looking amber brew with a white head. Full malty aroma loaded with sweetness and fruit (oranges). Very inviting. The flavor is just what the aroma suggests. Full malt with a light caramel sweetness. Plenty of hops run through this one and I noted Pine, orange, and earthy notes all throughout. Well integrated flavors and very enjoyable. Medium-full bodied. I’ll take more of this any time.

Cloudy brownish orange with a healthy frothy finger of white head. Very grapefruity aroma. Some malty caramels. Taste is powerful grapefruit and citrus hops. Great floral bittering finish.

Medium amber, nice head lasts very well and leaves a ton of lace. Aroma is a huge shot of hops, pineapple, citrus, grapefruit, a bit of pine and floral notes as well, gummy malts. Flavor matches, with a resin quality coming out more as it warms. Straightforward hop blast with a shot of sweet, caramel accented malts. Pehraps not mind blowing, but highly enjoyable.

Amber color with a heavy, syrupy hop aroma backed by lots of sugar. Flavor is thick, hoppy, and sugary, but not much else here. Decent, but not one of their better brews.

Appearance: Pours a lightly hazy, amber-hued body with a wispy, white head. Smell: Aroma of juice-dripping tropical fruits ahead of the pale maltiness, hint of grass, and minor note of Oval Office dankness. Taste: Pale and caramel malts with a sugary, candyish sweetness. A bit grassy. Fruity mix of tangerines, melons, and pineapples, then WHAM -- bitterness, a moderate hop bitterness, maybe even moreso. Light undercurrent of astringency. Finishes quite bitter, with a lingering taste of tropical fruits. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Oily, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Drinkability: I vote ’no’ on this hopferendum. Geez, could you imagine struggling through 8 years of this one?

Hoppy but slightly sweat aroma. Appearance is a foggy golden. Flavor is quite hoppy but balanced with some carmel sweetness. Palate is full with a nicely citrus finish.
