Commercial Description:
We the Brewers of Avery Brewing Company, in order to form a more perfect ale, require a new leadership that can liberate us from our quagmires in foreign lands; embrace environmentally sound energy alternatives to imported oil; heal our ailing health care system; free us from tyrannical debt and resurrect the collapsing dollar. We hereby pledge to provide him or her with an ample amount of our Presidential Pale Ale to support in the struggle for the aforementioned goals! Hail to the New Chief!

Not an "Imperial" pale ale, this is a democracy. It's Presidential! Take the all-American pale ale, a bipartisan blend of malt and hops, increase to both Avery Brewing standards, and then, of course, dry hop the result with that most quintessential of American hops, Cascades, and you get this... Ale to the Chief. A brew worthy of the Oval Office! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, hops and yeast.

22oz. This one’s been sitting in the fridge for a couple weeks and I was in the mood for some sticky-icky hops. This kissin’ cousin to the Maharajah doesn’t disappoint. A vibrant, nearly glowing orange pour, this beer has a big frothy head, some slight yeasty cloudiness to it, and the aroma is very thick and pungent. Just the ticket. What’s great about this one is that, like a lot of Avery’s best brews, there’s a very well crafted and substantial malt presence that somehow doesn’t get in the way. Agressively citrusy hops but with a floral lightness that makes this an easy drinker. Big chewy malts that somehow don’t detract from the subtle mingling of different sweet hop flavors. There’s nothing earth-shakingly distinctive about it, but it’s a damn fine beer, no doubt.

Bottle from Johns Marketplace in Portland, OR. Coppery amber color with a three finger off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma over a touch of roasted caramel. Almost medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is rather hoppy, with some bready malt. Hops seem floral. Lots of bitter. Malt and hop seem to balance. Makes me think of drinking cream. Cream? Hops? That computes? Just had Pliny, so I may be prejudiced in the numbers, but this is damn good ale.

Copper pour with nice sized white head. Wet fresh hop nose with sweet malt. Flavor is grassy hops with citrus and sweet condensed milk malt. Very well balanced yet the hops stand out. Love it from start to end!

A pretty cool bottle, with a great pour of small-bead head and rich caramel color. Aromas are bright spices -- hazelnut and yeast, too. Lively palate, plenty of hop and even plenty more caramel malts. Maybe a tiny bit sweet and sticky on the finish. I really enjoyed this beer.

Bottle. Nice amber pour with some white head. Aroma is pleasant citrus hops, somewhat foreign earthy hops and sweet malt. Flavor is similar; nice citrus and sweet malt, good resinous hop base also, somewhat foreign tasting as mentioned before. Soft and creamy mouthfeel. Mildly bitter finish.

22oz bottle. Golden light amber color with a small off white head. Metallic citric and pine hop aromatics. Heavy pinesol and ruddy citrus fruit flavors up front. Some sweet, doughy malt components with a tinge of alefruit. Earthen, metallic hop character dominates the finish, with a coarse bitterness and lingering appley sweetness. Mouthfeel is fairly heavy, somewhat cloying.

Pours bright golden with a long lasting fluffy head. Smell is awesome juicy fruit with some malt making itself apparent as well. Mostly pears and oranges to me in the nose. Taste is a lighter version of the nose with a lot of fruit and some of the malt present with a long bitter finish. A pretty medium body and pretty dry. A nice beer.
