Rich sweet carmel and brown sugar malty aroma. Like a BW. Modest malt flavor profile, a bit sweet, but not very heavy. Moderate body, and carbonation. Slightly bitter on the tail end. Sweeter and heavier than a Pale, not so big and bitter as BW. Less bitter and hoppy than I expected of a American Strong.
Interesting middle of the road characteristics, if not undecided.

Big, rich nose with candied fruit and a lot of sweetness. Nice, piney hop notes as well. The malts give it a nice mouth feel and continue with the sweetness from the nose. Nice licorice and orange peel. Nicely balanced by the hops and finishes with a nice bitterness. Definitely improves and becomes more complex as it reaches room temp. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 2, 2009 As an Avery, I was wary - I just haven’t had much luck with enjoying beer from this brewery...but I was pleasantly suprised with this beer. I shared a bottle of this with BeerBaron617 and at first thought it was a bit too malty, but over the course of time it was in my hand, it got warmer and a lot better! It poured a nice orangy amber color with an off white head. Aroma was sweet, citrus and malt. Initially tasted very sweet and malty, but then after a short while, the hops started to appear. I was really happy with this beer :) GG (1640), NorCal, California, USA

Something about this style just resonates with me. This beer is very nice. It pours out a cloudy golden amber color, lighter than some ASA’s. A nice 2" thick off-white head. Big malt aroma, sticky caramel with an equally big citrus aroma. It definitely treads on b/w territory. Flavor has a great balance between juicy citrus hops and rich caramel malts. Alcohol seems well tucked away with this beer. Very nice. dnstone (209), Mons, Belgium

Wanted to crack this one on innaguration day but 5 months later and it was worth the wait. Tweety (344), Vancouver, Washington, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 24, 2009 This beer has a nice hop flavor with a hint of carmel. Very smooth, not as bitter as a lot of American Strong Ales of this quality. Pours a light amber color with white head. Very cool bottle and description, definitely something to check out if you see it on the shelf even if you don’t buy it. JaBier (1223), Capital City, Ohio, USA
