You have to try it both ways, but TAP is the best. The hoppiness of this beer will satisfy even the biggest hophead, a definite must. scrizzz (1280), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 3, 2009 Dry grassy hops in happy abundance. Deep orange in the center, yellow on the edges. There’s a rounded creamy oily character here. Bright and sunny, I agree with the previous rater’s notes of rye, though I don’t think I would have called it out myself. Hops build strong through the finish until there’s only sharply grassy bitter on my tongue. Is this a beer for change? I do feel some sort of a stimulus. And, what kind of a beer would Nader commission? Strykzone (1478), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 31, 2009 Appearance is like apple cider being mid brown and opaque. Head is one finger and off white. Nice lacing. Aroma is very sweet malt. Flavor begins malty with some rye. Piney hops are also evident and grow as the beer warms and gain in strength with warmer temp. This beer has distinct beginning and finish. It is akin to a rye at first and becomes an IPA at the end. A nice beginning and a better finish. Nice! AndyReynolds (281), Wilder, Kentucky, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 31, 2009 22oz bomber. Pours an transparent orange with a thin white head. The lacing is very good. Aroma is very hoppy, with hints of citrus and pine. The flavor is about the same, but I notice a grassy-hoppy flavor in the finish. The finish is nice and bitter. Very nice, almost an IPA, but a great American ale! MI2CA (1266), Noblesville, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 30, 2009 22oz - Aroma of sweet pale malts and crisp pine resin hops. Pours transparent copper with a nice fluffy head and great lacing. Flavor is a lighter match to aroma. Sticky tart palate. Nothing revolutionary but voted as a nice tasty brew. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 30, 2009 Bottled. Beer is clear, medium brown with a small, off-white, frothy head. Mostly diminishes into a scraggy mist and a creamy ring around the snifter.
The aroma is very hoppy with heavy notes of resinous pine, grapefruit oil, iced tea and a trace note of lemon zest; Malty with light notes of toasted grain and cookie; Light woody/spicy note.
The flavor is heavily bitter, moderately sweet with a long, moderately bitter, lightly sweet and acidic finish. Long resinous aftertaste and some astringency hangs on.
The body is medium, the texture is syrupy and the carbonation is average.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 27, 2009 This poured a nice red color with an off white head. Aroma was citrusy hops, some malts and some metallic notes as well. Flavor was mainly nice mellow piney hops with some citrus notes held up by a big strong sweet malty backbone. A pretty good ASA scoobydank (6), Maple Grove, Minnesota, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 25, 2009 L:Thick off white yellowish head. The color itself is a fantastic crystal clear amber orange. Very sporatic tiny little bubbles.
S:Holy crap, insanely pungent fresh pine needle hops. Just a touch of citrusy grapefruit. Very mild candy apricot sweetness.
T:Whoa, there come those pine needle hops I smelled. Rich and vibrant pine needle hops just continue to pound your sense through out tasting this beer. There is a little bit of wheaty maltiness to balance out those hops.
M: Tight sharp little bubbles keep pounding the sides of your mouth. Yet the beer still feel rich and fat. Very nice round feeling
D: Very cool beer. Not much balance involved. Just hoppy goodness on top of hoppy goodness. Very good.
