AR (329), Georgia, USA Sep 6, 2008 Not sure why this is called a strong ale. It seems to be primarily an IPA, but it does have some noticeable malts mixed with the hops.
nuplastikk (521), USA Dec 4, 2008 500ml bottle. Thick, unfiltered orange-brown color. Seawater bitter hop aroma. Dry, sandy hop mouthfeel. Full on hop and malt assault. Rich and definitely full-bodied. Not astringent in hoppiness, and never overwhelming in apparent alcohol, this is a top-notch American Strong Ale. Rich caramel malty flavors. Papsoe (11076), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 3, 2008 Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of KimJohansen. Clear amber golden with an off-white head. Very fresh peachy aroma - almost perfumy. Quite full-bodied with sweetish caramel and very perfumy hop accents and a distinct bitterness. 221108 travita (808), Lewisville, Texas, USA Dec 3, 2008 Bright orange color looks good with a nice light tan head. Smell is alcohol, citrus, hops, and tropical fruits. Taste is malts, sweetness, with a light hop bitterness coming through. Silphium (2050), Lansing, Michigan, USA Nov 30, 2008 Hazy coppery body, puffy medium off-white head. Big, rindy nose, with citrus, sweet breads, toast, and alcohol. Birght floral, fruity body, featuring sweet, candied fruits (orange, papaya, pineapple), caramels, and breads, finishing with bitter resins and warming alcohol notes. Excellent flavor profile. Very well-done! KieferUGA (387), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 30, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Clear orange color with a thin, wispy, white head. Aroma of bready malt and sweet fruit. Flavor is sweet as well, with floral elements as well. Finish is slightly bitter. Something seemed a bit off, not the best from Avery.
