scottmc (167), Lakewood, Colorado, USA Aug 5, 2007 tap. A heavy hue with a heavy body and a sweet aroma. Awesome with a sweet smell a tad bit better than the regular Salvation. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 6, 2007 Draught at Falling Rock. Beer is cloudy, medium oxidized caramel brown with a small, white, frothy, rapidly diminishing head. Light lacing.
The aroma is malty with moderate notes of toasted grain, shortbread; Hoppy with light notes of resin/pine, herb; Light yeast note of basement; Moderate miscellaneous notes of bourbon, vinous sour cherry and oak.
The flavor is moderate/heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter with a long, lightly sweet, moderately bitter, light/moderately warm, boozy finish. Big bourbon rets.
The body is medium, the texture is watery/velvety and the carbonation is soft/lively. Would like more carbo to help float the big body.
Mellowed nicely. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jun 30, 2007 Draught, Falling Rock. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is murky medium brown. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, cookie), with notes of vanilla, whiskey/bourbon, dried dates, wood, sherry, alcohol. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/soft texture, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Good stuff; I ended up liking it a lot more than expected (seeing as how I dislike bourbon for the most part). Pleasant aspects in the aroma beyond the whiskey, and a decent sipping balance (it’s sweet, to be sure, but it didn’t seem to be too cloying). ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jun 17, 2007 On tap @ Falling Rock poured a hazy copper with a small lingering off white head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, carmel and a hint of vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, carmel and vanilla with a lingering semisweet finish.
