12 oz bottle. Pours a deep brown with a beige head. Tart nose, a bit funky, some earth, wood and mild fruit. very dry and tart mouthfeel, decent lace. Very tart cherry pit flavors, woody - the wine notes are pretty bold. Finish is dry as a bone. An odd beer I can’t decide if I really like or not. I THINK I do.

Pours dark brown almost black with a small head that dissipates fast. Aroma is like a flemish, lemon with funk and some grape charecter hidden in there. Flavor is grape-wine like and wood. Some funk in there would probally develop more after a couple of months of aging. Flavor is good brett compliments the oak and wine flavors nicely. Just would like to see this one with another year under it’s belt.

Poured dark brown with a light brown head. Flavor and aroma are big and complex, everything from grape soda to musty grapes just on the one fruit note. Interesting, although I wish this wasn’t as harshly alcoholic or carbonated as much to give time for the flavors to develop. Still very nice.

12oz bottle from Grape & Gourmet, bottled 2/10/09. Pours a dark, cola brown with a thin, bubbly, light tan head and a ring of lace. Aroma is wonderful with big notes of tart black cherry, red wine, brett yeast, a touch of wood, earth, and balsamic vinegar. flavor is very good as well, but doesn’t quite live up to the aroma. flavors of red wine, tart grapes and cherries up front followed by bready yeast, barnyard funk, honey, and dried fruits with subtle notes of vanilla and oak coming through late. palate is smooth with high carbonation that mellows nicely and a slightly sour, funky brett finish. overall, a very complex, enjoyable brew.

Black pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of wild yeast funk, smoke and wood. Flavor is odd: malty and smokey with a heavy dose of yeast, sweet and sour tartness like a lambic with vinous zinfandel notes. Not bad, just weird.

Pours a dark brown, almost black, with thin off-white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is sour fruit and yeast, almost like if you were put your nose in a carton of yogurt. Flavor is amazingly complex. Lots of brett mustiness and aged cheese funk. Hints of dried fruits and some smoky notes. Mouthfeel is medium and slightly astringent. No one’s going to confuse this with a session beer but, if you’re serious about you’re beer tasting, this is one I would recommend. It’s easily the most complex beer I’ve ever tried. It really makes you work for it, but every sip I picked up a new flavor I hadn’t noticed before. It’ll definitely give your palate a workout for which you’ll be grateful.
