Bottle from South Bay Drugs: Poured a violent abruption of fizzy dark brown nearly opaque liquid while the head dissipated in a matter of seconds like some kind of acid chemistry experiment. Nose varies from a sour combination of citrus and combination of Belgian yeasts. Flavors are confusing and the easiest summary I would use to describe the flavor is that this is simple Flemish style ale because of the sour and blend of different yeasts tasted in the drink. Also, there are notes of lush red grape sour tartness as well as a background of oak barrel. I wasn’t that impressed by this and had a high expectation but was somewhat let down after only finishing half my glass.

A deep brown body that is not penetrable by light. There is a thin medium khaki head that is persistent. The aroma was lightly sour with some cherries and vinous character. There was also some wood. This smelled very sweet and fruity smelling. The taste was lightly vinous with lots of wood. The finish was rotting wood and plant matter. A dirt like finish with a hint of chocolate. Interesting and different, this is a sipper.

Dark brown, almost black pour; wispy tan head with some retention and lacing. Plums, wood, and Brett mustiness on the nose, flavour develops plenty of sourness from the Brett, some dark fruit, oak, and a hint of sea salt. Longish woody finish, rich mouthfeel with very well-balanced carbo. Wild ales are a fave of mine, and this is a really nice one.

(12oz. bottle, courtesy of Bman1113vr and Lumpy) Pours an amber-brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma of vinegar, light roastiness, horse blanket, plum, and cherries. Flavor of cherry, vinegar, plum, caramel malt, white grapes, and toasted grain with a dry finish.

Dark brown pour with a thin head. Tart lemon, barnyard funk, stinky cheese, cherry, and light oak to round it out. Flavor displays the brett, but counterbalanced by sugar. I find it to be unique and interesting, but I could see how some may lump this into another Avery failed experiment. I’m kinda digging this. Not the dry finish you’d normally expect from this type of beer. Good effort.

12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy ruby tinted brown color with a large tan head. Poor head retention and decent lacing. Very tart aroma with musty notes, tart cherries and berries and some other fruit notes. Taste is dry with a bretty mustiness, some tannic notes as well as the same cherries and berries from the aroma, as well as an earthy tone. Full bodied and feels quite heavy on the palate.

Poured a murky mahogany color with a small, light tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of sour cherries, wild yeast, oaky wine barrels, leather, some roast, cocoa, and caramel. Taste of dark fruits, vanilla, oak, wood, caramel, roast, a bit of cocoa, and a dry, lightly tart finish.
