Straw colored pour w/ viz carbonation and a big whtie well coated head that laces well. Good well coated palate. Flavor is a west coast IPA hints of tangerine w/ the grapefruit and grass a tiny bit of sourness comes through in the aftertaste. Aroma of graepfruit and grass w/ hints of an earthy dirt & horseblanket. Good but odd, not heavily funked.

Tap at Avery Brewing Tap room Pours out a gold topped with a cream head. Aroma was of light brett, bread, malts, and some floral notes. Taste more of the brett funk but a good mix of floral and pine hops. A light caramel sweetness helped round it off.

Tap at brewery, GABF ’09.
Pours a deep cheddar orange with a woodsy, cedar orange nose. Flavor is a nice musty grapefruit with cedar chunks. Coating mouthfeel. An interesting experiment that works.

Draught at Avery, GABF week 2009. Pours clear dark yellow with an average frothy white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (bread, grain, straw, cereal), heavy hop (flowers, grass, pine, grapefruit), heavy yeast (horse blanket, barnyard, cheese, earth) with notes of pepper, ginger, and coriander. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness and acidity, heavy bitterness.

2009 GABF Taproom. Beer poured a yellow/straw color with a thick white head. Floral and citrusy hops on the nose and in the taste. Mouthfeel was of moderate carbonation and big on hops versus malts. I didn’t get much from the bret.

Draught, Avery. Head is mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers), moderately yeasty (barnyard, horseblanket), with notes of gum, band-aid, and manure. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. The Brett is a little rough and too far out in front, but otherwise pretty fun.

GABF 2008 @ Avery. This was fantastic. Hazy orange color with a decent amount of head. Hops and a funky faintly citrus barnyard with a sour hint on the aroma. Exceptionally bitter body with the funky brett finish from the 15. This was a great way to start of the festivities at Avery (and for GABF for that matter!).
