KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Feb 12, 2007 Bottle from Slob. Thanks! Pours too-clear yellow but with a nice head and lacing. Hoppy, sour citrus in the nose. Tastes like a watered-down IPA, with hints of musty hops and aged grapefruit. Mouthfeel is surprisingly thick. Wheat? More like an APA, but still good. Ringo (959), Loveland, Colorado, USA Aug 12, 2004 Not the best wheat. Avery makes a better wheat these days, perhaps that is why they stopped making this one. My sample is definitely old though. skaughty (621), Marietta, Georgia, USA Aug 8, 2004 I’m bucking the bad rating trend here: This is a decent unfiltered light amber colored wheat. There are the cheap elements - the perfumed aroma is only bailed out by the hop presence. The flavor leaves the feeling that if they doubled teh ingredients they’d have a solid barleywine. The finish is round and refreshing. clvand0 (350), Lexington, Kentucky, USA Jan 9, 2004 This beer pours an extremely clear yellow color with a medium white head and leaves very little lace on the glass. There was a little wheat in the aroma, but it wasn't very strong. The flavor was a very mild wheat taste, but there was a nice bit of malt and there was also some fruityness in there as well.
happy4hops (369), Bel Air, Maryland, USA Dec 14, 2003 Good to see this one go.Smells pretty hoppy for the style.yellow color.Taste is alright w/some fake citrus hop twang.Aftertaste(finish) is weird(unenjoyable). For Avery this is not good but that's ok, because they stoped making this one. sloth (1657), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA Nov 9, 2003 Large white head, lasting with some spotty lacing. Clear gold color. Lightly flowery hop nose, some breadyness also. Light body. Light fruity, grainy flavor, citrusy also. Finish is dry. OK merican wheat. krisbierjaeger (844), dolores, Colorado, USA Nov 9, 2003 banana peel yellow pour with a coconut colored head about as thick as a cookie. as with every beer-- i sniffed it like i was a security dog and it was a bag of blow, but as soon as i had concluded that it wasn't fragrant in the least, i noticed on the label that it says: "yeah, it is". so forcefully contradicted, i tried again with redoubled effort. this time some results trickled in: a bit of damp hay, leaves, and similarly wispy garden smells: honeysuckle and roses maybe. a light white grape, corn and wheaty yeast solution. not unpleasant-- just imagine a substansial wheat beer machine-washed, sun-dried, and then generously re-hydrated. every brewer is allowed to brew one beer to serve to the whiny white-bread masses who don't know a wheat beer from a weather vane or an ale from an arthritric elbow. here's avery's respectable bantam beer. i rather enjoyed it. and good label too. pauliefrog99 (302), FLINT, Michigan, USA Jul 12, 2003 Poured a clear golden color with small white head. Very thin bodied and watery mouthfeel. I didn't pick up much wheat flavor like the kind you get in other wheat beers. A little bit of fruity hop taste. I expected much better.
