Commercial Description:
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

This beer was a hazy light amber color with some residual head. The aroma had figs, raisins, and some alcohol present, along with some typical Belgian characteristics. It’s a little thin on the palate and has quite a bit of carbonation. It finishes solid, but overall, did not live up to its billing.

Amber with a small white head. Aroma has malt, fruity hops and spice. Dry and spiced flavour to the point of being cloying. Watery thin finish. I like the story better than the beer.

Bottle @ EBF. Copper with an off white head. Quite malty with sweet caramel, candi sugar, spices, obvious Belgian yeast and a hint of corn. Another slightly thin disappointment from Avery. The quote below, Drinkable - yet very average, about sums it up.

75cl bottle @ VinensVerden,Odense. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Nose is sweet & spicy. Quite strong - with some alcohol. Slightly metallic. Sweet & sugary taste with vague vinous notes. Medium bodied. Drinkable - yet very average from Avery!

Batch 2: Pours a really nice amber/brown color with a thin long-lasting white head and some good lacing. Aroma is malt through and through with a bit of an alcohol twinge. Bit of a distinct Belgian flair on the nose too. Flavor is malt, a bit of yeast and something almost smokey in the background. Got just a touch bitter as it warmed which was not at all unpleasant. This was a good beer.
