gws57 (948), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA Apr 9, 2008 Found this one bottled at the Binny’s in St. Charles, Illinois. Cloudy, deep amber pour with a nice thick off-white head that laced nicely. Nose of banana, cinnamon, orange peel and clove. Very complex flavor. Fruits, spices, nuts, baked bread and some rosy hoppiness are all present. Strong, potent finish but not alcoholic. Warm going down. This is a very nice beer.
beerheart (218), Erie, Colorado, USA Jul 5, 2008 I enjoyed this on tap at Avery’s tasting room after the Avery "4K on the 4th" run. I didn’t run very well, but I drank well. I had not seen this in stores, but I’m glad they had it on tap. It didn’t have the spiciness of many Belgian strong ales, but it had a nice caramel, toasted maltiness with a currant and dried fruit taste. AndrewKScott (221), Lemont, Illinois, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours a chestnut brown with a thick off-white head. Aroma of yeast, dried fruit, spice. Taste is an interesting concoction of the two types of ale, that produces a pretty decent, albeit vaguely, belgian style. It’s full-bodied, sweat with a slight dryness in the finish. Overall, this is kind of a weird one, I’m not sure I’m convinced. daknole (492), Plantation, Florida, USA Jul 4, 2008 Cloudy yellowish amber color. Foamy whitish head. Aromas of yeast, bread, sweetness. Flavor is super creamy and yeasty. Hops are present but not much. I enjoyed this one. Soonah (451), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Jun 30, 2008 A slightly cloudy orange color with a nice off-white head that hung around for a bit and produced clingy bits of lacing. The aroma was Belgian yeast, mild funk and some nice bittering hops. As it opened up the yeast took center stage along with sweet caramel malts and light spice. The flavor was yeast, spice, malt and some pine and floral hops. Medium mouthfeel that was almost creamy. Nice finish. gunnfryd (2651), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 28, 2008 Bottle @ Maria tasting. Golden / orange colour with a beige head. Aroma is citrus, hop, caramel. Flavour is sweet, citrus, hop, caramel, fruit. Nice beer.
