Tste starts sweet, lots of caramel malt to balance out the big finishing bitterness. Pours a mostly clear amber color with a tall white head. BrockLanders (750), Panama City, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 13, 2005 Pours a cloudy orange with a small, creamy, white head. Shows decent lacing. The aroma is complex and very attractive. Malty notes are augmented by some fruitiness, maybe melon and apricots. The flavor is nice as is the mouthfeel. Bottle says 9 % abv, but it’s hidden very well. The finish is quite bitter and good, but somehow I found myself wanting more....so I just poured another glass! Delicious, and better than advertised. Thanks Cornboy! SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 12, 2005 Bottle - thanks to slob for this trade! Hmmm, I thought I’d had this one before, but when I checked, it turned out that I’d had 10 not 11 from Avery. Oh goodie! Pours hazy amber with a full creamy off-white head that lingers and leaves some lacing. Complex aroma of rich fruity malts - hints of apricot, yeasty bread and ripe banana - along with powerful hops of the grapefruit and spruce persuasion. Sweet malty flavor, a bit syrupy with hops galore - lots of delectable, bitter, puckering hops leading to a lemon peel finish. Full, thick body and creamy smooth carbonation add up to a nice satisfying mouthfeel. Very nice brew from Avery! cathcacr (591), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 9, 2005 My obscene hop binge of the last several days, wherein my hop intake has exceeded the allowable limits prescribed by law and health requirements, leads me to this shameless hopfest. Just inject the hops directly in my arms, why don’t you. Hop dementia beginning to settle in. Somewhere, somehow, the hop insanity must come to a bitter end. In the meantime, I shall defy all common sense and enjoy while it lasts. And so . . . Avery Eleven . . .
A winner. They actually managed to put some hops into this one. Somehow the aroma conveyed some other style along with IPAishness -- bockiness, maybe. I’ve encountered it before, but perhaps it’s hard to place exactly. Rogue Dead Guy, perhaps? Shades of a horny horn-headed old friend? Couldn’t be the plastic goat, could it? Just whiff it while sipping, you will know what I mean. Appearance, head and lacing are in top form for this performance. Which leaves flavor and palate. For your average hop fanatic, this is first-rate. For a degenerate hop-guzzler like your humble narrator, the response it elicites is merely, "Damn, this is some pretty good stuff." Finishes round, soft and smooth, the way bottled baby bottom would. Well, that was satisfying. **Burp**

Mostly a flowery, perfumey hop aroma. Quite unlike PNW and a bit 1-D, but nice, fresh, and not boring. Taste is a slight caramelly sweet and resiny hops. Taste is the same flowery/perfumey hops, with some grapefruit/citrus in background. That, plus the alcohol leaves a bitter burn in back of throat. Quite enjoyable... I like its unabrasive nature. jigglyjock (159), Seattle, Washington, USA

NIce thick lasting head with small bubbles. Aroma a sweet hops and peaches. Tastes was sweet and hoppy with a apricot accent. Very nicely balance; not overy-powering with hops but still a good strong hoppy taste. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

Fragrant piney hop aroma over a malt base.
Big flavored, hoppy with a good balance of malt that has brown sugar notes with just a touch of alcohol. Smooth with a long finish. Spliffy (55), Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, USA

Got some nice hints of pine as well as chewy malts. A very nice and delish brew ha ha.. Not much else to say but get some.
