It has body, not just a lot of hops. I taste a little alcohol burn. Overall, this is an extremely satisfying Double Hopped IPA from an incredible brewery. Avery rules! | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 10, 2004 Bottle: Aroma is virtually all sweet grapefruit with a little pine sneaking thru. Pours a nice transparent amber with about an inch off-white head with fairly good retention. Great lacing. Nice qucik initial sweetness followed by a hoppy and citrusy finish. Some pine in the flavor but just like in the aroma it just sneaks thru. Long hoppy aftertaste. At 9% I expected the alcohol to show a little, but it’s covered up nicely. Unlike some, I like the balance of this beer. I recently had the Maverick IPA with only 65 IBU’s and felt that to be more bitter than this at 90 due to lack of balance. My first introduction to the Avery brewing Co. and I must say I’m impressed. Excellent beer. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 30, 2004 Light copper body. Strong hoppy and fruity aromas. Slight notes of caramel in the malt but it is mostly grapefruit. Pretty hoppy finish, limited acidity, smooth. Light orange, pineapple notes in the finish, very fruity. Grapefruity! Lightly sour finish doesn’t provide enough balance.
