Welll balanced with refined malt and hops present. Continuously feel that Avery is rising to the fore in the art and craft of brewing. What a grand way to celebrate their anniversary. herbjones (742), Orange, California, USA

Well balanced I guess. Actually as it warms and sits it really comes in to its own. Easy drinking, no big tongue buckling hop bite. Just good bitterness backed by enough malt body and sweetness. | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Aug 28, 2004 #999!. Pours turbid coppery with a medium, creamy white head and great lacing. Aroma of malt, hops, fruit. Tastes malty, with big hops, fruitiness, florals, spice, and chardonnay. The palate is medium, somewhat firm and dense. The finish is extremely hoppy, with resin. Perhaps not quite as well balanced as some I2PAs I’ve had, and a tiny bit harsh at the finish.....but to a hophead like me, this is Nirvana. There aren’t many bottles of this left. I got the last one at State Line in Elkton, MD. If you like IPAs and I2PAs, it’s time to get a trade out for this one. An exceptional beer!! Avery has knocked my socks off again! heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 27, 2004 Pours with a huge white head that went away after a few minutes. The aroma is vanilla, some orange cream and a little bit of pine. The taste is very smooth and has some malt backbone. The taste is a little bit of pine, orange peel and a hint of butterscotch. Absolutely delicious and very well balanced. A delicious IIPA. I am very happy and will get some more bottles at the next chance I get. The hops are not overly dominated by pine or orange peel, just a nice balance. MrWalker (927), Stockholm, Sweden

Did you like it? Buy a case of this brew then. However, the aroma is far better than the taste. Initially refreshing, but after a few sips the bitterness strikes you like falling timber. I wouldn’t mind another one, but not as the first in a tasting session. bubslang (438), Kentwood, Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 26, 2004 Reddish orange in color with a medium sized white head. Nice citrus and floral hop aroma. nice full mouthfeel, starting with a nice semi-sweet malt taste, then the hops hit you, mostly grapefruit, but some pine as well. an enjoyable beer. ante (2969), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 24, 2004 Amber colour, thick white head. Big piney grapefruity aroma, not much elese. Loads of grapefruit, pines and hops in flavour. Dense fruity mouthfeel. No complexity at all. Very hoppy, grapefruity and salty finish. omhper (12299), Stockholm, Sweden
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 11/20 | Aug 24, 2004 Bottled. Pale amber, brief head. Rich grapefruit aroma. Full bodied and sweet with clean mouthfeel. Sugary and enourmously hoppy with extremely bitter finish. An ambitious beer that misses the target. The malt profile is too hard and clean, it’s too sweet and the biterness in the finish is like ink.
